Job Title: Operations Supervisor Company: River Bend Food Bank Location: Davenport, IA Status: Full Time, Hourly/Non-Exempt Salary Range: $43,408 - $54,822 SUMMARY The Operations Supervisor is accountable for the daily supervision of all warehouse employees that have responsibility for picking, replenishing, receiving, delivering, or rescuing food. The Operations supervisor works with the Operations System Manager to create daily workloads for each employee to ensure the accurate and on-time delivery of Hunger Relief partner orders and retail pickups. Additionally, the position is responsible for the overall cleanliness and organization of the Davenport warehouse facility and overseeing processes and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation on a daily basis. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Effectively communicate priorities and expectations to direct reports through one-on-one communication and regular team meetings.
  • Create a schedule for each employee, approve requested time off, and provide metrics to evaluate individual performance.
  • Provide constructive feedback when expectations are not met and enact discipline as needed to correct behavioral issues.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and communicate necessary changes to employees during times of short staffing, unexpected donations, late deliveries, and other situations with a focus on achieving overall goals of the department. This may include the operations supervisor covering other positions as needed.
  • Direct and supervise staff to ensure all food safety protocols are met and the warehouse is clean, organized, and ready for visitors and volunteers at all times.
  • As needed, interview, select and train new staff members. Provide on-going training and development for all staff members to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Understand, plan, and execute initiatives in support of the organization's strategic plan.
  • Complete performance appraisal documents and wage recommendations on a timely basis.
  • Collaborate with other members of the staff to ensure organization-wide initiatives and goals are met.
  • Work in conjunction with Director of Facilities & Safety and Operations Systems Manager to ensure seamless exchange of information regarding workloads, facility improvements, a safe work environment, and audit requirements.
  • Passion to facilitate and nurture the relationship between operations and other departments within River Bend Food Bank.
  • Ability to understand and apply the policies and procedures of the River Bend Food Bank employee handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITIES
    • High school diploma or an equivalent
    • 1 or more years of experience in a warehouse setting.
    • Supervisory experience highly preferred
    • Ability to complete forklift and ServSafe certification within 60 days or hire.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and promote team collaboration.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and successfully meet goals and deadlines.
    • Accurate data entry and basic math skills.
    • Ability to occasionally travel out-of-town if required.
    • Ability to work occasional evenings and Saturdays, with limited overtime.
    • Willingness to support the mission of the organization and to help end hunger in our area.
    • Ability to understand and implement health department, Feeding America, OHSA, and AIB standards to ensure safe storage and distribution of food.
