Responsibilities

Underwriting Operations Supervisor role is responsible for supervising a team of underwriting assistants to drive results, maximize team performance and meet or exceed the expectations of our internal and external customers. The supervisor will collaborate with business operations, underwriting, billing and IT to identify and implement workflows and processes that support the team and meet operational and financial objectives. This role will support the Underwriting Modernization Project by enhancing processes, testing and training.

Key Functions will include but not be limited to:

* Provide supervision to a team of Assistant Underwriters and ensure they have the skills and tools to deliver exceptional service.

* Direct and manage Assistant Underwriter's day-to-day work process in conjunction with department objectives.

* Drive daily activity to ensure Service Level Agreements are met.

* Provide consultation to staff members regarding workflow, queue management and prioritization.

* Manage agency assignments, monitor work queues, set expectations, and motivate others to perform well.

* Provide regular performance feedback, complete written performance reviews.

* Interview, hire, and train employees.

* Collaborate with other departments to collect data, map critical processes and participate in forming recommendations for improvement in work product and agent support.

* Maintain department workflows and procedural issues to manage the effective flow of business (new and renewal) through the company while upholding service standards.

* Responsible for writing all necessary reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

* Handle various requests and/or inquiries from staff, General Agents, Insureds and/or Underwriters, and Billing through phone, in person, and written correspondence.

* Present information and respond to questions from employees, co-workers, and management.

* Interpret and analyze productivity reports, underwriting manuals/guidelines, rating manuals, forms, and workflows for commercial lines business

* Enhance and support team relationships with our business and agency partners.

* Establish and monitor service level agreements, procedures, and workflow.

* Conduct quality assurance audits of underwriting assistant work as needed

* Maintain strict confidentiality of all aspects of position.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree required

* AINS Designation preferred

Qualification:

* 2 years supervisory experience preferred

* 3+ years of related commercial auto underwriting experience preferred
