Job DescriptionYou belong at Day & Ross. Operations SupervisorFull-time: 10:30 am - 7pmLocation: Decatur, GAThe Operation's Supervisor is responsible for supervising overall dock operations, including day to day processes, paperwork, reporting, and monitoring KPI's.How You'll Help
- Communicate monthly performance stats to the team to help measure, develop and improve operational performance.
- Maintain policies and procedures and ensure compliance with federal and provincial transportation, safety, and employment legislation.
- Ensure all incidents (personal injuries, transportation collisions, spills, near misses, etc.) are promptly reported, documented, an investigation is initiated, and corrective/preventative measures are implemented.
- Works with the team and others, internal and external to the facility, to resolve roadblocks to achievement of daily operational objectives.
- Work with the Terminal Manager to track monthly performance stats for the dock.
- Ensure accurate reporting.
- Uploading and setting up of scanners.
- Maintain communication with PDC Supervisor for status reports on correct loading by unit and timely departures.
- Do a dock and yard check, ensure freight is not missed, and trucks are on schedule.
- Perform Yard consolidations, including checking what is in the trailers.
Your Skills & Experience:
- Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Transportation background in dock supervision a plus (3-5 years)
- Computer literate in Excel and Word
- Must be able to build and maintain relationships.
- Previous Transportation or operational experience is preferred; various roles within transportation would be beneficial.
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to respond to demands calmly.
- Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to manage demands and resolve issues with drivers, co-workers, etc.
- Ability to work independently, a self-starter
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to implement proactive solutions to support operational demands and efficiencies.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule
- Strong Communication Skills.
- Demonstrated customer relationship skills
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Able to work deadlines in a highly transactional environment
- Ability to champion the business needs collaboratively to colleagues
- Minimum of secondary education, with a preference for post-secondary education (general stream) or a combination of education and experience
