Recruitment Range: Up to $75,262

The position is designated Statutory Exempt and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act.

In this role as the Operations Supervisor, you will supervise a team of computer professionals who provide services to State and Local governments. The position is also accountable for the effective and efficient operation of all hardware and software within DIT, whether at Eastern Data Center, Western Data Center, or remote sites, requiring knowledge of all operational components. The position must be able to assess the criticality of the problem and determine the most expedient solution. Knowledge of NIST 800-53 and IRS 1075 Standards & Controls is crucial for this position. Some travel is required, as well as other assigned work to meet the needs of our stakeholders and the citizens of NC.

Duties include, but are not limited, to:

* Working with other functional specialists and analysts to develop a strong and sustainable business solution

* Installing server hardware and software

* Implementing operational processes and administering servers

* Identify operational failures and respond appropriately, which may involve independently resolving the issue or engaging higher-level administrators/technicians and/or vendors for assistance.

NOTE: THIS IS A SECOND SHIFT POSITION (4:00pm - 1:00am)

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

* Experience with data center operations

* Experience with project management and/or process management

* Experience with various cloud services and/or VMware server systems, including UNIX, Linux, or Windows operating systems

* Experience supervising and/or training a technical staff

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants who possess these skills are preferred:

* Microsoft, AWS or Google Cloud Certified

* ITIL Training

* Leadership or Technical Lead Certification/Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering, engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years progressive experience in the field of information technology including experience in Operations or Systems work;

OR

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years progressive experience in the field of information technology including operations or systems experience;

OR

Associate degree in computer information technology, computer engineering technology or networking technology from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in operations/systems work or closely related area; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
