TITLE: Operations Supervisor/Chief Operator
SALARY: $45-50.50/hr
SCHEDULE: 8 Hour Shift; Monday to Friday
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employee's specific duties shall include, but not be limited to:
- Supervise skilled work (hands on less than 50% of his time), assist in the development of and implementation of policies and programs related to company's water distribution and collection system operations, installation, maintenance and repair.
- Oversee the day-to-day planning and assignment of programs related to operations and maintenance projects; prioritize objectives, evaluate progress and implement changes to ensure attainment of established goals.
- Confer with developers and contractors to ensure company's standards are being adhered to as they pertain to underground utilities.
- Provide excellent customer service to company's owners, ensuring that personnel respond to their requests/complaints in a timely and respectful manner.
- Provide general supervision to personnel; evaluate performance and recommend or implement appropriate personnel action.
- Implement and manage all testing and reporting responsibilities as well as any other requirements as defined by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board.
- Assist in developing and administering Water Department budgets; authorize expenditures for supplies, materials, and equipment within approval level.
- Recommend performance standards and training programs to the General Manager; implement performance standards and training programs.
- Participate in developing and implementing company's best practices in quality control policies and procedures in the department to ensure delivery of quality product and service in Water operations. Ensures regulatory compliance of client's potable water systems.
- Administer and enforce company's safety program, ensuring that work-related injuries, vehicle accidents, property damage, utility hits, regardless of how minor, are investigated and reported on a timely basis. Maintain accurate records and files on all systems including work completed; assist in preparing technical reports to appropriate agencies and the company Board of Directors.
- Demonstrate appropriate supervisory conduct at all times, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information; comply with and support company policies and procedures, employment laws and other Agreements.
- Build and maintain respectful, positive working relationship with staff, supervisors, outside agencies, Owners using principles of good customer service; provides effective conflict resolution, as needed.
- Attending continued education provided by Regional Water Management Group (RWMG) and/or Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) ass required.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Employee must maintain their D-3 and T-2 certifications in good standing.
- Keep all professional licenses, including CA Driver's license, in good standing.
- In compliance with regulations, as the Chief Operator, Employee is to make all decisions regarding water distribution, treatment, pressure testing, installation designs and so on as required by the State Water Resources Control Board.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain the following physical abilities: see well enough to read, write and make observations; hear well enough to converse on the telephone and in person; be able to speak clearly; body mobility to walk, bend, stand, crouch; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds; operate a vehicle making frequent stops getting in and out of vehicles; use office equipment to write reports; tolerate extreme fluctuations in temperature while performing essential functions of the job.
MUST HAVES FOR ROLE:
- Utility Pants: Employees must wear durable utility pants suitable for the work environment.
- Safety Shoes: Steel-toed or other appropriate safety shoes are mandatory to protect against workplace hazards.
- Candidates must consent to and pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
