We are seeking a candidate to supervise drivers at one of our locations.The Operations Supervisor provides direction at a single location, leading staff to ensure customer requirements are achieved while meeting our Penske goals and objectives.High-level responsibilities This is a fast-paced environment, looking for a strong and professional Supervisor. Previous Transportation Supervisor/Leadership experience supervising team of CDL class A drivers. Previous proven experience training, having challenging conversations as well as developing associates. Previous metrics experience, strong DOT regulations knowledge and experience. Overseeing a team of cdl class A drivers and equipment. Preferred experience with driver tracking, HOS, route, and ensure on-time deliveries. Also need data auditing, field observation, positive coaching techniques, strong communication and engagement skills. Must be a self-starter, organized, detailed orientated, good interpersonal skills, professional, and approachable. Team player, with a strong sense of urgency/responsiveness/attention to detail is needed in the ideal fit. The Operations Supervisor provides leadership to staff to ensure customer requirements are achieved while meeting our Penske goals and objectives.Work Schedule: Shift – Monday – Friday - 5 am- 3pm until production finish or 9 am – 7 pm (flexibility with work schedule and on-call requirements as needed).- Salary range – Salary: $54,300 - $72K – performance bonus – max 12%Position Summary:Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure the execution of daily tasks and activities including driver deliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, and customer service operations in a manner consistent with company services and cost objectives. Supervises most processes directly including people, systems, customer needs, equipment, etc.workforce and equipment scheduling. Responsible for performance management of direct reports. making corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level. Involved in the hiring process and customer meetings as necessary.Major Responsibilities:PeopleEstablish and sustain that all supervisors and associates are trained and competent and understand how their work relates to the customers' business objectivesEstablish and sustain that performance standards are communicated that are specific and measurableInterview hourly associates and provide recommendations for hireMonitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards and provide coaching and counseling to associatesMotivate and engage associates by focusing on team accomplishments and recognitionOperationsSupervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch and proper documentation and procedure controlConduct team meetingsEvaluate and recommend changes in preferred work methods to increase productivity of dispatch operations. Assist in new associate trainingProvide relief coverage for operational duties when associates utilize time-off or are absent from the shiftHave a thorough working knowledge of the site's operating systems in order to ensure operational compliance and correct exception resolutionComplete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashionFinanceEnsure compliance with financial policies & procedures such as tracking MPG, returns, damages, etc.Understand the relationship between decision-making and profitabilityClosely manage associates' working hours and activities to minimize overtime and to meet or exceed productivity targetsSafetyEnsure day-to-day management and associate activities are aligned with the location safety strategyProvide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performanceEnsure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and proceduresConduct safety observationsGrowth / Customer ExperienceUnderstand the location-specific customer goals & objectives and work to meet and exceed these expectations dailyEnsure the customer knows that we are committed to helping them meet their objectivesDetermine areas that could benefit from Continuous Improvement effortsFleet/AssetsProperly plan work assignments to ensure effective use of fleet equipmentWork with hourly associates to ensure they understand safe and efficient operation of equipmentWork with vendors to ensure equipment is maintainedWork with Penske Truck Leasing to ensure schedule of preventative maintenance is completeOther projects and tasks as assigned by supervisorJob Qualifications:Demonstrated leadership qualities with strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to connect, build rapport and maintain solid relationships with associates, Company leadership, internal and external customers. ¬Must have ability to work efficiently and independently with strong time management and organizational skillsStrong written/oral communication skills and the ability to actively listen are requiredAbility to manage through a problem, think critically, and make decisions independentlyAbility to drive process improvement and lead changeProficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint requiredMust demonstrate ownership & responsibility to run the operation with a sense of urgencyHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredBachelor's Degree preferredRegular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the jobWillingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.Physical Requirements:The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
