DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Caritas Shelters Program Support provides supportive and administrative services which systematically support shelter programs and staff with maintaining an environment that supports health, well-being, and safety to the clients we serve. In addition, the Operations Support provides administrative support as needed to help programs function and meet the needs of the clients we serve and supports Participant Advocates during swing and overnight to ensure secure and safe communal living for the participants. The Operations Support operates as the access point during their shift for community requests that occur outside of regular business hours, assisting programs where needed by facilitating support from security patrol, law enforcement, EMS and Fire when a situation arises.Essential FunctionsShelter Safety Support
  • Review security cameras and conduct walking inspections of non-shelter areas; observe and report activity of concern in surrounding area.
  • Complete census checks for clients; cross check and update information as needed.
  • Take lead in monitoring park lot and cross-referencing vehicle census.
  • Point of contact for TRP from 6pm - 6am.
Administrative Support
  • Data entry, accuracy audit, data corrections
  • Badge creation/renewals
  • Additional support with late intakes if needs arise.
  • Log note entries of occurrences, observations, task completion, and incidents.
  • Incident report completion and additional touchpoint completion as needed.
Supports as Point of Contact for Community Access
  • Respond to community questions; knowledge of resources; front door questions and phone questions.
  • Respond to calls on the HOST hotline - including community inquiries, shelter referrals, providing information, scheduling follow-up, and facilitating shelter intakes when appropriate.
Facility Support
  • Assist with facilitating EMS calls and site access across Caritas shelter programs.
  • Monitor and take lead with alarm systems, notifications and responses.
  • Responsible for carrying and responding to site phone.
Other Responsibilities
  • May assist in food preparation for client meals.
  • Work with Diocese of Santa Rosa and local parishes as appropriate and requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required
  • High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required. One to two years' successful work as personal caregiver or verified successful equal work experience preferred.
  • Must become certified in CPR and First Aid within six months of transfer to this position or hiring date.
  • Understanding of causes of homelessness, experience working within social services and familiarity with community resources. Knowledge of Housing First principles and methods preferred.
  • Have working knowledge of relevant community resources.
  • Computer literacy required including experience with Microsoft 365 Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; organization, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cooperative, friendly, proactive, and helpful attitude with clients and co-workers. Ability to work closely with clients and other employees to ensure a positive and constructive environment within the program or department and throughout the Agency.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a positive, solution-oriented approach.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the mission of Catholic Charities and its clients.
  • Valid driver license and at least state required minimum of automobile insurance, clear DMV driving record and ability to provide own transportation. Must be willing and able to travel between agency sites.
  • Must pass DOJ background clearance (fingerprinting) in accordance with the Diocese of Santa Rosa's policies prior to start of employment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
