Position OverviewThe Chief of Staff is a key strategic partner to the CEO, responsible for driving alignment, execution, and operational excellence across the organization. Positioned at the intersection of strategy and execution, this role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the company's priorities are met while fostering collaboration among the executive leadership team. A fundamental aspect of the role is managing governance activities, including facilitating effective board meetings, ensuring timely preparation of materials, and driving accountability for organizational priorities. The Chief of Staff will work closely with the CEO and department heads to streamline decision-making, oversee high-impact initiatives, and ensure alignment with the company's long-term goals.ResponsibilitiesStrategic Execution
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop, refine, and implement the company's strategic roadmap
- Translate the CEO's vision into actionable plans, ensuring progress and success metrics are tracked
- Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to inform strategic initiatives
- Drive cross-functional projects to align with company objectives and key priorities
Governance Activities
- Oversee all governance processes, including preparation and facilitation of board meetings
- Develop and deliver board and executive-level materials that are clear, concise, and actionable
- Ensure alignment on governance-related priorities and accountability for follow-through on key actions
- Maintain and improve processes for reporting and decision-making at the board and executive levels
Operational Efficiency
- Oversee operational processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement scalable improvements
- Develop systems for prioritizing and monitoring initiatives across teams.
- Act as a force multiplier for the CEO by streamlining workflows and reducing bottlenecks
Executive Collaboration
- Serve as a primary liaison between the CEO and the executive leadership team, ensuring clear communication and collaboration
- Prepare materials for board meetings, investor updates, and strategic reviews
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to maintain organizational accountability
Organizational Leadership
- Lead and personally execute on key strategic projects for the organization, at the discretion of the CEO (e.g., pricing, adjacent market entry, customer journey redesign)
- Lead efforts to improve organizational alignment and team performance
- Support leadership development initiatives and succession planning
- Address pain points across the organization to improve operational effectiveness
Project Management
- Oversee high-impact, cross-functional projects from inception to completion
- Establish clear roles, timelines, and deliverables for all initiatives
- Ensure timely execution of projects and alignment with company objectives
Required Skills & Education
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, such as management consulting, investment banking, or a strategic operations role
- Hands-on operational leadership in a high-growth SaaS company preferred
- Experience with financial modeling, M&A, or capital raising is advantageous
- Strategic thinking with the ability to translate long-term goals into actionable plans
- Strong operational expertise, including process optimization and resource allocation
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver executive-level presentations
- Proven leadership and influencing skills to align cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Financial acumen, particularly in SaaS metrics (ARR, CAC, CLTV, margins)
- Project management expertise, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives
- Adaptability to thrive in dynamic, fast-changing environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the heavy equipment industry, ERP systems, and SaaS delivery models
- Deep understanding of SaaS pricing models and customer success strategies
