Summary: Bar code application and packaging of plastic fittings into customer packs for retail sales.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position reports directly to the Bar Code Supervisor and will receive direction from the Bar Code Manager or Acting Supervisor in the absence of or in conjunction with the Bar Code Supervisor.
The primary responsibility of the Bar Code Operator is to safely and efficiently perform top-quality operational duties on a daily basis which include (but are not limited to) the following:
* Knowledge and recognition of plastic fittings by name, shape, and dimension.
* Knowledge of daily performance goals and working to achieve 100% of targeted output.
* Completion of production line paperwork accurately and in real time.
* Assuring quality of work through the proper labeling and verification of correctness for all types of barcoded fittings and their associated packaging (i.e.: labels, cartons/cases, bags, ink jet printed information, case count, and pallet configuration)
* Set-up and verification of weight scales.
* Detection, segregation, and isolation of non-conforming quality defects and notifying Supervisor, Manager, and/or QA Department
* Able to identify various types of quality defects based on appearance, fit, form, and function.
* Troubleshooting minor machine-related issues and minimizing downtime by escalating to Bar Code Set-Up or Bar Code Maintenance Technician for major machine-related problems.
* Assisting with machine changeovers and ensuring proper line clearance and start-up with efficiency in mind
* Proper organization and cleanliness of assigned work area to highest level of standards.
* Training of new bar code application personnel (both full-time and temporary) as needed and assigned.
* Performing the above-mentioned functions with minimum supervision
* Any other duties as assigned by supervision or management.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend sufficient English to follow work instructions.
Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills and counting ability required.
Reasoning Ability: Must be able to take complex and diverse information or situations which have several probable correct paths and compile information in a manner that allows problems to be solved in a reasonable fashion.

* General Job Duties: palletization, box taping, scale operation, label interpretation, packaging types, housekeeping, etc.
* Line Operation: Employees are cross-trained to be able to operate any of the barcode lines within the department. Lines with the department include the following: Bagger Line, Semi-automated line, Automated Line, and Manual Line.
* Quality Control & Auditing: Employees are trained on defective parts and how to verify counts, part numbers, barcode readability, pallet quantity, etc.
