- Complete and adhere to all MSHA and COVIA safety training and policies.
- Must be able to use plant maintenance tools and safely operate equipment including manlifts, forklifts, and skid steer, haul truck and front-end loaders.
- Must have capacity to work in all outdoor year-round weather conditions, inside unheated or uncooled buildings, inside machinery, and in LAB/Loadout area.
- Must be able to work from elevated worksites or man-lifts.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, and lift and carry 60-pound objects.
- Must be able to startup/shutdown and operate Dry Plant machinery.
- Must be able to collect daily samples and conduct necessary testing per Lab requirements.
- Manage waste from Dry Plant oversized and dust collection systems.
- Performs daily clean-up of Dry Plant/LAB work areas (washing, sweeping, shoveling, etc.) as directed.
- Lubricates and inspects associated equipment as directed.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance activities (PM's) as directed.
- Assist in minor and major maintenance repair activities as directed.
- Immediately reports and reacts to emergencies such as conveyor stopping, screen plug-ups, etc.
- Fill out daily production, quality, and inspection sheets.
- Conduct daily Method 9 Visible Emissions Observation and fill out related form.
- Load trucks and railcars with company products via Citect controls system.
- Complete necessary documentation for product loading (via software systems and paperwork as appropriate)
- Communicate with customer truck drivers to ensure safe and efficient loading of trucks ensuring adherence to Covia policies and procedures.
- Communicate with Covia logistics personnel and railroad company to move rail cars as needed.
- Performs daily inspections/rounds of respective work area, maintaining a safe work environment, looking for abnormalities/problems and creates work requests in CMMS (IFS) for equipment needing repairs and notifies appropriate personnel as necessary.
- Conducts daily product sample testing in LAB and sends out sample results to email distribution list and notifies Production Lead and Plant Management when/if products are out of specification.
- Perform all other duties as needed or directed.
- The above duties reflect the general details necessary to describe the principal functions for both the Operator Dry Plant and Operator Loadout jobs as these jobs are expected to be cross-functional, and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all of the work requirements inherent in the job. Other work will be assigned and utilize scheduled time or to meet exceptional conditions. Job incumbents are required to observe all safety practices and wear specified safety devices.
The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous mechanical and electrical experience preferred
- Previous heavy equipment operating experience preferred
- Literacy in English, both written and spoken
- Ability to operate computer programs
- Safety awareness
