We are looking for 1 more employee to join our team. This shift would be 2nd/3rd shift and would include weekends. Pay is dependent on experience and certification levels.PURPOSE: To perform operations and maintenance of wastewater treatment, collections, and all pumping facilities in compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, federal and contractual requirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES: Ensures and performs a variety of skilled, technical, and administrative work in the operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of complex equipment and treatment processes, which can include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for safe, efficient, and effective operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities; as well as, collection systems, submersible pumps and/or grinder stations.
- Ensures plant(s) function to their optimum capabilities in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Monitors, observes variations, and interprets the performance of all equipment, gauges, meters, control panels and charts to determine processing requirements.
- Performs operational and required laboratory tests and analysis of product in a safe, fair, and expeditious manner.
- Performs safe, preventative maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment. Updates and maintains records of completed maintenance.
- Extracts samples and performs routine and non-routine laboratory tests and analysis. Assembles instruments and equipment for analytical or research work. Safely prepares chemical and bacteriological media, stains, reagents, and tests solutions used in the laboratory. Cleans, maintains, and stores instruments and equipment.
- Maintains accurate records, reports and logging of all pertinent information required in wastewater treatment operations. Work includes preparation and submittal of necessary data and reports to other governmental agencies as required,
- Prepares and submits monthly operations and performance reports to region office and client as directed. Represents the company to other agencies and citizens with a courteous, helpful, accurate and business-like attitude; displays a commitment to PeopleService. Responds to customer/client complaints and resolves such compliances in a fair and expeditious manner.
- Continually evaluates other market potential in geographic area and solicits business to expand the local project.
- Orders, stores and accounts for chemicals, utilities, contract services, and other materials and supplies in the most cost-effective manner, including coding of invoices.
- Ensures the general maintenance of building(s), grounds and company equipment, including vehicles and tools is performed.
- May serve as the responsible operator-in-charge of the overall operation and maintenance of the treatment plant and/or distribution/collection systems, including submersible pumps and/or grinder stations.
- May train/coach new personnel in the operation and maintenance of the plant(s), distribution/collection systems, submersible pumps and/or grinder stations.
- Other duties as assigned. May be required to assist with operational issues at other facilities or act as the Region Safety Coordinator.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Required to work weekends and nights.
- Ability to obtain wastewater certification within 1 year.
- Clean driving record to operate company vehicles.
- Strong mechanical skills to repair related water/wastewater equipment, such as pumps, etc.
- Required to live within 10-30 minutes of Oakland, IA.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Attendance and punctuality are essential to this position.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize the workload.
