Description Location: UCHealth UCHlth Eye Center Aurora, US:CO:AuroraDepartment: UCHealth Eye Center AnschutzFTE: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)Shift: Days Pay: $24.11 - $36.17 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experienceSummary: Assists Dry Eye service line providers in the care of patients in clinic and procedural areas.Responsibilities:
  • Under the direct supervision of a provider, assists with performing patient care in clinic, procedures, and diagnostic testing.
  • Assist in scheduling Dry Eye patients for clinic appointments and procedures.
  • Performs documentation, patient education and enters charges.
  • Orients, trains and educations students, staff and residents.
  • Staff resource and mentor.
  • Assist with prescription refill process under the direction of provider.
  • Ensures proper care and usage of medical instruments in clinical area.
  • Responsible for reviewing clinical schedules for assignments and coverage and reports any discrepancies to the clinical coordinator and/or clinical supervisor.
  • Performs clinical assignments and additional duties delegated by clinical supervisors.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Dry Eye clinic, other divisions within Ophthalmology, satellite clinics, other departments within UCHealth and outside referring physicians to assure efficient patient care.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in performing ophthalmic core competencies, dry eye diagnostic testing, assisting in minor procedures and knowledge of point of care testing requirements.
  • Assists with the flow of patient care in clinical areas.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED. Completion of UCHealth preceptor course.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if performing as a contact lens technician. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years sponsored on the job ophthalmic training, or ophthalmic internship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 3 + years working with a Dry Eye specialist, assisting in IPL treatments, and performing Lipiview and Tearlab testing.
