Your Specific Responsibilities:The Health Support Technician participates in all clinics independently performing specific functions under the direction of the Nursing Program Specialist. The technician also assists in preparing clinic areas, treatment and interview areas, is responsible for assembling of equipment, sterilization of instruments, maintaining supplies, collection of specimens, blood tests and documenting data in client's records.Provides direct client services in all areas per Policy and Procedure Manual as delegated by Nursing Program Specialist. Follows routine procedure for measuring and recording heights, weights, blood pressures, temperatures, head and chest circumferences, hearing and vision acuity. Collects data and updates medical history, allergies and mental assessments. Initiates Templates in E H R such as Family Planning annual and STD Comprehensive, etc. as needed per visit type. Relates to clients in a friendly, courteous manner. Recognizes and reports to nurse/provider abnormal changes in client's condition.Performs general clinic support services. Responsible for clinic preparation prior to each clinic. Maintains clinic and lab areas in a clean and orderly manner. Sterilization of instruments. Replenish/restock supplies. Assists clinical provider with examination of clients and/or other tasks.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Knowledge of basic computer software. Skill in using medical instruments or testing equipment. Verifiable training in venipuncture within 6 months of hire date. Skill in taking blood pressure readings. Ability to interview patients and obtain a complete medical history. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to keep accurate records. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.
Qualifications:Minimum -
- Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural
- Able to travel between different clinical sites
- Work experience working with client electronic health records in a healthcare setting
- At least 1 year of verifiable work experience conducting health screenings to include interviewing clients, measuring vital signs, weight and height, and recording information
Preferred -
- Verifiable training in venipuncture. Training will be required withing 6 months of hire
- Assistant (CNA) or comparable certification
- Certified in CPR and First Aid
- Bilingual (Spanish and English)
