ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional to moderate travel required.
Position may respond to emergencies, including natural disasters or other type incidents requiring travel, as needed.
JOB DUTIES:
Responsible for the oversight of one or more recreation areas including boat ramps and those areas with fixed facilities such as bathhouses, camping units, hunt camps, etc. Duties include interacting with the persons who use the area, providing them with information regarding recreation area rules, directions, and providing for their general safety. Explains facilities and services provided for public use. Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.
Responsible for the minor maintenance needs of one or more recreation areas. This may include maintenance and cleaning of all recreation sites and dispersed primitive campsites, monitoring and maintenance of multi-use trails, maintenance of all recreation and forest information signage, removing litter, performing repairs, tree maintenance and removal, mowing, fencing installation and mending. Also assists other personnel in making improvements and repairs on recreation areas.
Individuals in this position perform special periodic duties including enforcing recreation area rules and regulations forest wide, coordinating recreation areas for special events, and assisting with prescribed burning, etc. Records are also kept on the number of recreation area users, including a monthly report submitted to the Recreation Coordinator.
May be required to receive training and become qualified to supervise prison inmates, as assigned.
May be required to work weekends and late shifts as needed. Also, may be required to work in multiple recreation areas (improved and unimproved) as needed.
Performs operator maintenance on all mechanical equipment used in recreation areas such as tractors, mowers, pickup trucks, chainsaws, power tools, etc.
Able to work both independently in remote areas as well as coordinate with volunteers and staff on team projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
