Job Description:

We are looking for a Full-time Optometrist to provide the services below. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Patient Care:

  • Perform thorough routine eye examinations.
  • Identify the patient's visual alertness, field of vision, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Diagnose sight problems.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses.
  • Diagnose and assess eye disease such as diabetes and liver failure.
  • Write prescriptions and inform patients about medications prescribed.
  • Consult with other physicians and specialists as needed.
  • Complete medical forms and documentation related to patient care.
  • Answer patient telephone inquiries as needed.
  • Make referrals to other agencies and providers, with follow up care provided.
  • Encourage eye health promotion, eye disease prevention, and eye health maintenance. Provide patient advocacy, as appropriate for site.
  • Participate in Peer Review process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Administrative/Education Duties:

  • Collaborate with Benefits Counselors and Outreach staff to ensure appropriate patient scheduling and flow.
  • Observe, implement, and promote federal regulations.

Salary: $150,000 Requirements Background and Education: Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution; New York State Optometry license; Optometry Board Certification; minimum of two years' clinical experience preferable; ability to speak Spanish or other languages preferable.
