- The Optometrist delivers primary and comprehensive eye care services, including prescribing corrective lenses and ordering diagnostic studies.
- Diagnose and manage visual and ocular conditions, including Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Iritis, and other ocular/systemic diseases.
- Perform minor surgical procedures (e.g., anterior segment foreign body removal, corneal debridement, suture removal).
- Provide preventive and therapeutic optometric care to patients across all age groups and with diverse needs.
- The Optometrist detects neuromuscular impairments and anomalies of binocular function.
- Refer and coordinate medical and surgical care with other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Utilize laboratory and radiology services to manage and evaluate ophthalmic conditions.
- Conduct mandated examinations, such as diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma screenings.
- The Optometrist provides specialty clinics and services, including low vision care, contact lens services, and geriatric care.
Optometrist - REQUIREMENTS
- Hold a degree from an accredited Optometry Program in the United States.
- At least one year of professional experience as an Optometrist
- Must have a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must have a current unrestricted license to practice Optometry in a U.S. State, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
