- Demonstrates knowledge of care & cleaning of instrumentation.
- Assembles trays correctly.
- Demonstrates knowledge & application of sterilization principles.
- Demonstrates competence in use & care of machinery in central.
- Communicates effectively with OR & other departments concerning their instrumentation.
- Performs end of day routine.
- Performs monthly cleaning on a timely basis.
- Demonstrates understanding & follows policy for PPE & attire in the OR/CS.
- Demonstrates knowledge of maintaining sterile field for opening supplies & assisting in the OR.
- Demonstrates correct cleaning of instrumentation between cases.
- Demonstrates knowledge & operates correctly flash autoclave & steris.
- Follows policy for use of instrument disinfecting solution; correctly documents QI.
- Correctly prepares cases for the next day.
- Prepares the OR in the morning for that day's cases.
- Assists with room turn over as needed.
- End of the day cleaning & stocking are done consistently.
- Assists the OR staff as needed.
- Demonstrates safe patient transfer assistance.
- Aware of door alarms & security methods.
- Uses equipment safely & attends in-services as offered/needed.
- Supports & practices safety as #1 standard.
- Completes all required learning courses in a timely manner.
- Attends 100% of hospital mandatory meetings/in-services.
- Attends 75% of scheduled department meetings & reviews written minutes of those meetings not attended.
- Keeps record of inservice/seminar attendance & submits annually to Manager/HR/Education Coordinator.
- Attends continuing education to maintain competency.
- Maintains current credentials & provides paperwork for HR file.
- Maintains clear, legible variance of hours worked & completes timely.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong customer service & organizational skills
- Effectively communicates both verbal & written
- Able to operate computer equipment
- Mechanical ability to deal with large number of machines & equipment in the department (autoclaves, washer/disinfector, ultrasonic, & steris units)
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year relevant work experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Constant walking, standing, using hands & talking; frequent pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching & manual dexterity.
- May need to lift up to 25 lbs constantly.
