Description

Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is committed to providing our communities with the highest quality health care through exceptional access to state-of-the-art clinical services with compassionate and personal care. Participates in the care of perioperative patients by assisting the surgical team before, during and after surgery at the Hospital and Grayslake Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Responsibilities:
* Assembles routine and specialty instruments for operative procedures according to operating room standards and physician preference cards.
* Organizes instruments according to specialty.
* Cleans and sterilizes instruments as needed.
* Labels all supplies on the tray.
* Inform appropriate personnel when instruments or equipment are insufficient to meet the needs of the operative schedule.
* Assists team members with placing and positioning patients on the table.
* Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon.
* Preserves OR specimens.
* Accounts for all sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation.
* Functions as a second surgical assistant after completing skill checklist; under direction of the surgeon, retracts tissue, assists with wound closures, and applies surgical dressings.
* Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Successful completion of Surg Tech Program.
* BLS American Heart Association.
Preferred:
* Experience Preferred.
