Oracle Database Administrator Remote with occasional travel Perm Position s Oracle DBA, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing multi-tenant Oracle databases within the AWS cloud environment. Your responsibilities will encompass deploying, configuring, and maintaining Oracle RDS instances, ensuring high performance, security, and reliability. This role involves a combination of Oracle database administration expertise and proficiency in AWS services. Key Responsibilities:
- WS RDS Implementation and Management: Deploy and configure Oracle databases on AWS RDS, ensuring proper sizing, performance tuning, and high availability through multi-AZ deployments.
- s an Oracle DBA, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing Oracle databases within the AWS cloud environment, specifically leveraging AWS RDS for efficient deployment and maintenance. Additionally, you will be tasked with automating database health check reporting, ensuring proactive monitoring of the database environment for optimal performance, security, and reliability.
- utomate Database Health Checks: Design and implement automated health check reporting mechanisms for proactive identification of issues. Use scripting and AWS tools to automate reporting of key database metrics such as performance, security, and backup status.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize database performance, diagnosing issues and implementing performance tuning strategies. Use tools such as AWS CloudWatch for real-time performance insights.
- Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery: Establish, monitor, and automate backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability. Test disaster recovery plans regularly.
- Security: Implement and maintain robust security practices for Oracle RDS, including encryption, access control, and audit logging.
- Patching and Upgrades: Plan and execute patching and version upgrades with minimal downtime, ensuring databases are up-to-date and secure.
- Database Automation: Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting (e.g., Python, Shell) and AWS CLI to enhance efficiency in daily operations.
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with developers, infrastructure teams, and system administrators to optimize database design, resolve issues, and ensure database systems meet business needs.
- Documentation and Best Practices: Document all database procedures, including health check reporting, automation scripts, and RDS deployment strategies, to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) and AWS Certified Database - Specialty, would be beneficial.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, with a focus on AWS environments
- Strong knowledge of Oracle database architecture, performance tuning, and administration
- High proficiency in Oracle database tools and utilities
- In-depth knowledge of AWS RDS and related services with more than 5 years' experience with Oracle in a lead role
