Position Overview

The College of Dentistry at the Ohio State University seeks applications for a full-time oral and maxillofacial surgeon in a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Anesthesiology. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic academic oral and maxillofacial surgery residency training program and contribute to the mission of the larger Division and College via pursuit of excellence in teaching, research, and service.

Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a desire to create an environment that promotes collegiality, collaboration, and diversity among members of various educational, research, and service-related communities. A willingness to serve as a role model and advocate for the ideals of professionalism and high ethical standards in a health science educational setting is essential.

Salary, academic rank, and startup package are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Sponsorship is available for international candidates that meet the required qualifications.

Performance Objectives

The faculty hired into this position will be expected to:

  • Teach at the pre-doctoral and resident trainee levels in both didactic and clinical settings.
  • Engage in research within the college and across other health science units at the Ohio State University and demonstrate high-quality scholarly work, including presentations at professional meetings and publications of basic or clinical research. The tenure-track faculty member will have a much greater emphasis placed on the pursuit of research and extramural funding in accordance with promotion requirements.
  • Serve in university and college governance.
  • Practice the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery and participate in maxillofacial trauma and odontogenic infection call for all affiliated hospitals.

Education and Experience Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate the following required qualifications:

  • DDS, DMD, or international equivalent degree
  • Training certificate from a CODA accredited oral and maxillofacial surgery training program
  • Eligibility for a regular (unlimited) dental license by the Ohio State Dental Board
  • Board-eligibility or board-certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
