Your Role:?
As part of COMSPOCs SSA Operations Center, you will join our team of Astro engineers performing real-time SSA operations in Exton, PA (this is an in-office position). You will be responsible for ensuring that the operational tempo and products continue to meet requirements, identifying trends and issues, and performing in-depth analyses to provide operational insight into identifying and characterizing objects in the space catalog. In addition, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the Ops Centers growing collection of analytical tools and operational procedures by developing new scripts and software, building dashboards and visualizations, and identifying areas for operational improvements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities?
- Perform orbit determination using AGI's Orbit Determination Tool Kit (ODTK) to assist with operations assessments, calibrations, and characterizations, to ensure overall high quality of COMSPOC orbital solutions
- Using COMSPOC's Space Situational Awareness (SSA) Software Suite, assess non-cooperative space object behaviors to identify satellite patterns of life to maintain our space object catalog
- Execute cooperative operational services including safety of flight and conjunction analysis, geosynchronous relocation support and maneuver performance auditing
- Analyze satellite tracking observations and satellite owner data to assess real-time global space events
- Create and develop new ops procedures and/or operational tools
- Design, build, and deploy automated systems, applications, and interfaces in support of customer missions. Improve interoperability between data sources and analysis platforms while maximizing efficiency in tactical SSA scenarios
Minimum Education & Experience??
- BS in Astronautical Engineering or related field
- Demonstrated ability in technical problem-solving and overall scrappiness
- Willing and eager to learn and grow your skills
- Ability to work in a team orientation, set ambitious goals, and contribute to overall success
- Strong oral and written communication
- Proven time management and priority tracking skills
- Passion for space environment and responsible space activity
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Knowledge of orbital mechanics, space systems, satellite operations, and mission planning
- Familiarity with Orbit Determination Tool Kit (ODTK) highly desired
- Working knowledge or experience with Sytems Tool Kit (STK)
- Programming experience (Python, MATLAB, C#, or any other language)
