Position Summary The Orderly is responsible for coordinating and assisting with patient transport, morgue related duties, and STAT calls. Core Job Responsibilities # # #Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care # # #Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients, family and significant others while providing care # # #Communicates change in patients condition to all applicable individuals; documents appropriately # # #Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care # # #Uses internal mechanisms to support patient safety programs through prevention, mitigation and response # # #Prioritizes and organizes work assignment and adjust priorities based on changing situations # # #Promotes and maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment # # #Maintains proficiency with department specific equipment, troubleshoots and reports malfunctions promptly # # #Assist with maintaining equipment, supplies and assistive devices # # #Coordinates beds as directed by nursing staff # # #Reports any problems with patients to nursing staff immediately. # # #Sets up traction # # #Performs standard 12-lead EKG on patients 12 years and older. # # #Performs morgue related duties, such as assist Medical Examiner and/or accept or release bodies as required # # #Maintains Vanderlift (use # sleeves) # # #Performs patient transports using stretcher or wheelchair in absence of transport team # # #Moves patients from bed to transport vehicle # back into bed when returning.# Qualifications # # #Patient Care/Patient Transport experience # # #BLS certification from American Heart Association within 30 days of hire # # #Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing # # #Ability to establish working relationships with members from all areas of SMC # # #Ability to work independently and as part of a team # Additional information # # #To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Qualifications
