Summary:

The Orthopaedic Surgery Inpatient Service is growing at WMCHealth in Valhalla, NY. We are seeking specialty trained Physician Assistants (PAs) to join our 1st assist and inpatient service teams. In this position, the PAs work alongside experienced physician and advanced practice providers (APPs) colleagues both surgically and medically managing a variety of orthopaedic inpatients, adult and pediatric, during their hospital course. APPs are integral members of our department and clinical care teams that provide comprehensive care in a multitude of orthopaedic subspecialties including trauma, sports medicine, hand, joint replacement, spine surgery, musculoskeletal oncology, pediatric orthopedic surgery and foot and ankle surgery.

Responsibilities:

* Performing medical evaluations, treatment, follow-up and consultations for diverse orthopaedic adult and pediatric traumas and acute care surgical patients.

* Medically triaging and managing inpatient orthopaedic acute consults and matters, as well as, standard pathway admissions

* Delivering direct patient care as part of a collaborative teaching service and patient care team.

* Gaining a working competency of procedures inclusive of, but not limited to, 1st assist and 2nd assist OR management, as well as, casting/splinting/traction and other routine orthopeadic care interventions

Requirements / Qualifications:

* Candidates must be board certified as a Physician Assistant and possess or be eligible to obtain an applicable New York State license.

* Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 1-year clinical experience, although highly motivated new graduates with interest and abilities in orthopaedic surgery or surgery/medicine subspecialty will be considered and are encouraged to apply.

* Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
