Position Type: Student Support Services/Occupational Therapist Date Posted: 8/9/2024 Location: East Rochester School TITLE: Occupational Therapist Registered QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Holds a New Hampshire Occupational Therapist license for the New Hampshire Board of Medicine. 2. Graduate of accredited school for occupational therapy. 3. Other qualifications as may be deemed essential for successful performance in the position. REPORTS TO: Director Pupil Personnel Services, OT Department Head or Designee JOB GOAL: To assist the developing child whose academic potential is hindered by one or more handicaps such as cerebral palsy, mental retardation and/or learning disabilities. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Serves as a team member to assist in identifying the specific deficits or lags in the developmental process by recommending or providing restorative or intervention programs to increase the child's independence and learning potential. 2. Responsible for the assessment, evaluation and implementation of occupational therapy for students. 3. Responsible for fully communicating all pertinent information regarding students in the students' records, to the appropriate health and educational personnel also working with the student and to the referring physician as needed. 4. Responsible directly for the supervision and direction of all supportive staff members assisting in the treatment of students such as Occupational Therapy Assistants, or Occupational Therapy students. 5. Conducts student screenings as needed to identify students who may be at risk for academic problems. 6. Evaluates the individualized, detailed and documented assessment of a child known to have or suspected of having a handicapping condition, utilizing evaluative tools and skills unique to occupational therapy and assessing. 7. Communicates effectively with professionals, paraprofessionals, and parents regarding occupational therapy programming. 8. Shares with the educator information concerning those skills which the child needs to function optimally within the classroom. 9. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and self-selected professional growth activities. 10. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. 11. Performs other such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Director or designee. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and other terms and conditions of employment shall be governed by negotiated contract with extended service as approved by the School Board. EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Director, OT Department Head or Designee, in accordance with School Board policy. ADOPTED: February 8, 2007
