Position Summary:

Bryant & Stratton College OTA Academic Fieldwork Coordinator will support the College mission by providing the student with a fieldwork experience that provides them with the opportunity to carry out professional responsibilities under supervision of a qualified occupational therapy practitioner serving as a role model. The academic fieldwork coordinator is responsible for the program's compliance with fieldwork education requirements and will devote 50% of his or her time to fieldwork responsibilities. Teaching responsibilities will compose the other 50% of this position.

Responsibilities:

* Implement fieldwork experiences for students to include the following:

o Ensure that the fieldwork program reflects the sequence and scope of content in the curriculum design in collaboration with faculty so that fieldwork experiences strengthen the ties between didactic and fieldwork education.

o Document the criteria and process for selecting fieldwork sites, to include maintaining memoranda of understanding, complying with all site requirements, maintaining site objectives and site data, and communicating this information to students.

o Demonstrate that academic and fieldwork educators collaborate in establishing fieldwork objectives and communicate with the student and fieldwork educator about progress and performance during fieldwork.

* Ensure that the ratio of fieldwork educators to students enables proper supervision and the ability to provide frequent assessment of student progress in achieving stated fieldwork objectives.

* Ensure that fieldwork agreements are sufficient in scope and number to allow completion of graduation requirements in a timely manner in accordance with the policy adopted by the program.

* Ensure that at least one fieldwork experience (either Level I or Level II) has as its focus psychological and social factors that influence engagement in occupation.

Instructional Responsibilities:

o Provide instruction with the focus on teaching and learning to help assure students in each class successfully meet all course outcomes and classroom objectives.

o Plan for and facilitate instruction consistent with the Community of Inquiry Framework and the Seven Principles for Good Practice.

o Assure appropriate course-level rigor in class instruction and assessment methodologies consistent with the College's Rigor Standards Framework through the development,

integration, and delivery of course content planning documents including but not limited to supplemental syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments.

o Integrate and include instruction and assessment of each of the College's four lifelong learning competencies in each course taught.

o Establish and maintain a classroom climate consistent with the College values, education promise, and personalized promise.

Other Duties:

* Participate in professional development activities.

* Maintain a current knowledge of teaching discipline/field of study as evidenced by active participation in professional organizations, maintenance of current scholarly collection of resources (through virtual library), and engagement in active, on-going dialogue with peer faculty.

* Participate in program, campus/market, and system faculty development opportunities, including program-specific and campus-wide faculty meetings and in-services and market- and system-sponsored in-services. Document professional development and learning in an electronic portfolio (Optimal Resume).

* Fulfill administrative duties.

* Meet requirements for creation, distribution, and retention and/or submission of beginning- and end-of-term paperwork.

* Adhere to, uphold, and comply with all established operational policies and procedures as described in operating documentation (Official Catalog, Faculty Guide, Associate Guide).

* Participate in curriculum monitoring and development process by providing feedback on curriculum to PDs and/or System-level curriculum team.

* Attend required College functions including graduation and special activities.

* Participate in campus-wide initiatives in support of recruitment, retention, and graduation goal attainment including, but not limited to, monitoring, adjusting (when needed), and assessing classroom and program retention/graduation, and meeting with program advisors on a regular basis to discuss student performance and academic concerns.

Positional Qualifications:

* Minimum Master of Science degree in related field required.

* Associate or Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy required.

* Initial Certification by NBCOT to practice as either COTA or OTR.

* NY License for OT or OTA - current.

* Minimum 5 years' clinical experience.

* If OTR, additional clinical experience working with the OTA role preferred.

* Teaching experience preferred working in academic setting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Program Marketing, Advocacy, and Community Outreach

* Facilitate instruction as designated, following the OTA Program's hybrid delivery model ensuring that all instruction, skills checks, competencies, exams, etc., during face-to-face lab hours are uniform at all OTA lab locations

* Assist in the management and delivery of Fieldwork including supervision, site securement, and data collection in conjunction with the Academic Fieldwork coordinator

* Participate in program, campus/market, and system faculty development opportunities, including program-specific and campus-wide faculty meetings and in-services and market- and system-sponsored in-services

* Implement and evaluate strategies for improved student retention and success

* Participate in curriculum monitoring and development process by providing feedback on curriculum to Program Director and/or System-level curriculum team

* Participate in student advising as directed and assigned by Program Director

* Other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

* OTR or OTA, with a bachelor's degree

* NY license required

* Successful teaching in higher education setting preferred.

* Minimum of 2 years' clinical experience in field required.

* Strong working knowledge of computer software (e-mail, Microsoft Word, Teams, etc)

* Demonstrated commitment to professional development and student success

* Strong team player

* Ability to make meaningful and positive connections with diverse student body in a career college environment

Salary Range:

$81,000-84,000

The selected candidate's actual base pay for this role will take into account a wide range of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. At Bryant & Stratton College, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.
