Under general supervision of the Parks Director, the Parks Maintenance Technician assists in the maintenance and upkeep of Outagamie County Park properties and park equipment.

This is a Full Time Position

Hours are: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

The following duties are normal responsibilities of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

* Serve as the primary point of contact and provide support for maintenance activities at Mosquito Hill Nature Center.

* Cuts grass, trims trees and shrubs, and performs other horticultural tasks. Performs landscaping duties including, planting, removal of trees and shrubs and laying sod.

* Monitors Park System, examining and fixing any doors, windows, fencing and gates to ensure they are secure. Enforce park rules and ordinances as necessary.

* Builds and paints picnic tables and benches. Repairs or replaces signs as directed. Paints facilities, equipment and buildings as needed.

* Provides exemplary customer service and actively participates in maintaining a positive customer service environment.

* Aids in the installation and maintenance of fencing, drain tile, culverts, playground equipment, park benches, picnic tables and other park equipment.

* Keeps park road, walkways, office entrance and parking areas free from snow and ice.

* Prepares buildings for seasonal use, checks and performs minor maintenance on plumbing and electrical as well as equipment repairs or general maintenance of equipment.

* Maintains and cleans buildings, restrooms, grounds and assists in the upkeep of all recreation fields as requested or assigned.

* Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshoots and makes repairs on motorized equipment, machinery, buildings/HVAC systems and other park facilities.

* Installs, constructs and maintains signs, piers, docks, and small bridges as well as assists in their removal in non-use seasons.

* Implements Department and County goals, objectives, and policies; maintains performance standards.

* Retains regular and predictable attendance, works overtime/extra hours as required. Prepares and completes reports as required.

* Graduate from high school or G.E.D and at least one year of related experience; OR any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

* Functioning knowledge of cleaning, maintenance methods, use of cleaning supplies, equipment, and proper use of a variety of hand tools.

* Basic understanding of carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC, and electricity.

* Operate equipment such as a tractor, multiple ATV/UTV's, skid steer, large mowers, trucks and plows and assist with their maintenance and repairs.

* Maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees with the ability to work with and communicate effectively with the public in a courteous and helpful manner in order to provide excellent customer service.

* Perform tasks and various types of work requiring good physical condition.

* Work effectively under limited supervision throughout the bulk of a shift.

* Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver's License.

* Ability to lift items of 50 lbs. or more several times per shift.

* Ability to perform work from a standing, walking, or sitting position throughout the bulk of the shift.

* Ability to perform heavy manual labor for short periods of time under extreme temperatures.

* Ability to frequently lift with occasional carrying, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs. while understanding and utilizing proper body mechanics.

* Full dexterity in both hands and feet.

* Ability to perform duties which require occasional reaching, swimming and climbing.
