Responsible for store operations in the absence of the Outlet Supervisor. Perform duties of Outlet Sales Associate.ESSENTIAL DUTIESOversee basic Outlet operations in the absence of the Outlet Supervisor (including making daily bank deposits), ensuring Outlet staff deliver customer service according to defined procedures.Provide guidance to staff on sales questions or issues; inform Outlet Supervisor or designee of personnel-related problems.Organize the store by stocking and placing merchandise.Maintain a neat, clean, and safe working and shopping environment by following good housekeeping practices.Assist customers:a) by helping them find merchandise and/orb) by carrying their paid merchandise to their vehicles (does not include loading items into customers' vehicles).c) by reporting any problems/complaint to the Outlet SupervisorRemove/sort unsold merchandise for recycling/disposal, as appropriate.Perform opening and closing procedures as required.Perform cashier duties as requested.Greet customers entering the outlet and thank them as they leave.SECONDARY DUTIESPreform Related duties as assignedQualificationsJOB SPECIFICATIONEDUCATION REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum six months retail sales experience required; as-is retail experience preferred.LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQ'D: Completion of forklift certification within 90 days of hire/placement.KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:Basic math ability.Familiarity with electronic cash registers (this may be learned on-the-job).Familiarity with Company and Retail policies and procedures (this may be learned on-the-job).Familiarity with Goodwill Central Coast's mission, Company and retail policies (this can be learned on-the-job).EQUIPMENT USED: Typical sales and material handling equipment/ forklift.SKILLS/APTITUDES/TEMPERAMENTS:Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. The area is not climatically controlled, and the temperature will fluctuate widely. There is some exposure to dust, odors, and fumes. The working/standing surface is uniform. There is noise from radios. Work is completed in cooperation with sales staff and management. There is constant contact with the public. The job requires the incumbent to occasionally deal with short deadlines or special events, which may require some overtime. There are fluctuating periods of high activity/demands throughout the course of the workday.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe work pace is steady with constant standing and walking. The job involves moderate to heavy physical work demands requiring regular lifting/carrying of up to 50 lbs. Large or heavy items (over 50 lbs.) are moved by using appropriate material handling equipment and/or with assistance from co-workers.
