Job Description:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Professional Excellence: Understand and adhere to the Client's Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors. Prepare and position patients accurately for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Technical Expertise: Assume responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures, producing high-quality technical images, and reviewing completed exams for quality and completeness for the type of test ordered.
  • Collaborative Patient Care: Assist physicians during procedures as necessary. Maintain the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories. Report any malfunctioning equipment promptly.
  • Efficient Operations: Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed. Notify senior staff when supplies are low and need to be ordered.
  • Adaptability: Be ready to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department. Work on call, holidays, overtime, and/or day, evening, and overnight shifts to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department.
  • Patient-Centric Approach: Introduce yourself, use two patient identifiers, and explain the exam to the patient and/or family member. Provide care based on the physical and psychosocial needs of different patient populations.
  • Continual Learning: Uphold continuing education requirements to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies. Be aware of department-specific protocols and policies, such as Stroke Program/Code Gray, IV & Oral contrast, etc.
  • Leadership: May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor. Treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospital's behavioral standards.
  • Technological Proficiency: Process images or print CDs when needed. Perform routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/films, and documenting information on patients in EPIC, hospital RIS, and PACs digital x-ray system.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Be on standby/call for emergency department coverage. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Education & Experience Requirements:
    • Graduate of an allied health education program and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.
    • NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required. ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R) and/or (CT) certified and/or NMTCB registered (CNMT), with documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection.
    • Passing advanced CT examination/certification within 1 year from the date of hire.
    • Uphold continuing education requirements, with current standards of 24 ECE credits over a two-year period, depending on the year of birth.
    • DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of a 6-month orientation.
    • BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.
    • Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before the end of the probationary period.
