- Coordinates clinical training, orientation, and ongoing evaluation of new/existing urgent care clinical staff as well as completion and submission of clinical competencies at time of hire and annually.
- In collaboration with the supervisor, coordinates urgent care clinical schedules, ensuring appropriate clinical support for extended hours of the urgent care facility.
- The RN provides clinical leadership staff while overseeing the scope of practice of LPN's and Medical Assistants in the urgent care setting.
- Triages and assesses acutely ill patients for early identification of signs and symptoms to prevent complications and ensure timely intervention of acutely ill patients.
- Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
- Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.
- Maintains CLIA Waived Lab standards and performs CLIA Waived Lab testing and oversees proficiency validation according to regulatory standards, Includes oversight of tri-annual AAFP Lab Proficiency testing, lab quality controls and Lab credentialing.
- Collaborates and leads patients, families, and all members of the health Care Team in coordinating patient care.
- In collaboration with the Unit Coordinator, participates in and facilitates Performance Improvement activities, monitors PI data, and assists with the development of Performance Improvement plans.
- Collaborates with Unit Coordinator to promote and facilitate the compliance and understanding of Joint Commission, NYS DOH, Infection Control and all regulatory standards.
- Participates in educational opportunities and in collaboration with the unit coordinator, assists in providing information updates and acts as a resource for all clinical staff.
