Position Summary: Support and develop the outreach program for the Selfhelp Big 6 Towers NORC Program with goal of increasing visibility of the NORC program in the community and resident participation in NORC activities and services.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the NORC Program Director, become educated on the specifics of the NORC Program, the community it serves as well as the surrounding area
  • Work with Program Director and NORC team to develop outreach plan with goal of identifying potential new participants in the NORC program; work to develop plan for engaging new participants
  • Work with Program Director and NORC team to implement outreach plan including organizing NORC outreach events and activities as well as attending community events to promote and inform residents of NORC programs and activities
  • Work with NORC team to develop a client call list and make calls informing and/or reminding clients of upcoming activities with goal of increasing participation
  • Work with Program Director and NORC team to identify and cultivate potential new community resources and partners.
  • Work with Program Director to develop and update NORC website, social media sites and assist with compiling monthly newsletter and e-newsletter
  • Work with Program Director to conduct community surveys, satisfaction surveys, focus groups, etc., as indicated
  • Assure client contact lists (phone numbers, email lists, etc.) are up-to-date and current at each program.
  • Participate in formation of system to track progress, maintain accurate records of activities and provide information to respective Program Director as determined by needs of each program
  • Data entry of NORC activities, surveys, etc. into Peerplace and any other data base systems indicated
  • Attend and actively participate in supervision meetings with Program Director to assess progress and discuss potential changes in focus of efforts for each program
  • Participate in NORC team meetings and any other meetings as indicated
  • Adhere to organization's standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including – but not limited to – Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, IT Security Awareness, Compliance, OSHA, HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regards to regulatory compliance or good business practices.
  • Supports organization's mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers.
  • Adheres to the organization's policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Perform related duties as requested or assigned

Salary Ranges: $20 - $24.72 per hour commensurate with experience.

Job Competencies & Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) and a minimum of two years of related experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of older adults, and the general public.
  • Able to work well as part of a team as well as independently as situation requires. Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Basic technical skills are required. Able to perform data entry.
  • Must be computer literate with proficient skills in MS Office 2013. Willingness to learn and use social media required; proficiency in use of social media preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English and at least one other language that is used in the community preferred (e.g., Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Urdu, Hindi).
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Working Conditions/Physical Demand

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and sometimes up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Must be able to attend meetings and other out-of-office functions by using public or private transportation or other conveyance, including climbing stairs when necessary
