Outside Plant Technician

A top broadband company in the southwest is seeking skilled military veteran technicians.Duties and responsibilities:- Prep, terminate, splice, bond/ground, and test fiber optic equipment to division standards OSP aerial and underground- Terminate inside plant FDP end points - Perform ring cuts, butt-splices, enter splice cases on live fiber without affecting existing services- Perform fiber tests with OTDRs, light source and meters- Provide accurate equipment location, splicing and terminating records for the fiber database and interpret engineering provided drawings- Monitor, communicate and perform corrective actions to fix problems affecting any fiber or fiber related equipment - Install/replace enclosures and other fiber related telecom equipment as required or instructedMust have experience using and calibrating the following equipment: fusion splicer, mechanical splicer, OTDR, power meters, traffic identifiers, digital multi-meters, cleavers, strippers, buffer tube splitters, cable ring tools, hand tools, toners, duct rodders, ladders, bucket trucks, and so on- Must possess prior knowledge of OSP and ISP network design and infrastructure principles - Must possess the ability to interpret plans, drawings, diagrams, and be able to correctly identify and record OSP as-built fiber routes- Must be able to maintain accurate records and input data into software programs used for information storage and retrieval$25 - $32/hour DOE. 10+ hours of overtime/week available, annual bonus potential, company vehicle, cell phone, all tools included.
