- Customer Service (help customers find what they need in a professional and courteous manner)
- Conducts sales, both inside the store and out in the field, via face-to-face interactions with both potential and existing customers
- Provide knowledge and hands-on explanations of any new or updated building products
- Build and maintain relationships with new and repeat customers
- Maintain records of all sales leads and customer accounts
- Educate customers on how products or services can benefit them financially and professionally
- Remain informed with industry competitors, current markets, and new products
- Source, plan, quote, and bid building packages for customers
- Special order placement, communication, and follow-up
Secondary Job Functions:
- Help load merchandise for customers
- Help check in freight
- Straightening and stocking bins, warehouses, and yard
QualificationsQualifications:
- H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred
- Vast knowledge of hardware and building materials
- Professional communication skills
- Good attitude, friendly
- Excellent math skills, with the ability to create and analyze quotes and reports
- Ability to multitask, must be able to manage both in-house and field work
- Professional telephone skills
- Ability to operate office machines, computers, and Excel is a plus
- Ability to identify and solve problems
- Ability to work flexible hours; including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to count change back
- Attention to detail, accuracy is key
