Key responsibilities include developing educational and awareness-raising content, as well as coordinating overdose prevention tools to enhance community awareness and safety.* COVID-19 Information: It is an essential function and business necessity of the job that all employees are vaccinated and that all new hires will be required to be vaccinated within four weeks of hire. If CHN considers making an offer of employment, CHN will inquire about vaccination status at that time, including whether the new hire currently has COVID-19 or has COVID-19 symptoms.QualificationsEssential Job FunctionsOverdose Education:* Master training community members in overdose prevention techniques, overdose response, and naloxone administration* Train community members to train others in overdose prevention and response* Collaboratively develop, coordinate, and carry out multiple types of overdose prevention and response education throughout the rural southeastern counties of Colorado, including:* Virtual presentations and trainings* In-person presentations and trainings* Development and distribution of educational content* Create and gather content for training, social media, website, partnered organizations, print materials, etc.* Canva for graphic content* Microsoft Suite for writtenNaloxone and Test Strip Distribution:* Work alongside prevention services coordinators to expand naloxone and testing strips (xylazine and fentanyl) distribution to individuals, community members who may serve as secondary distributors, and businesses/organizations who may want naloxone on hand or who want to distribute it (e.g. social service organizations, gas stations)* Develop and maintain system for reporting naloxone administrationAdditional Duties:* Assist Prevention Services Manager and fellow coordinators with development of partnerships with organizations throughout southeastern Colorado* Provide support to prevention services at Access Point Pueblo* Represents the organization at community events and collaborative meetings as needed* Maintains current understanding of overdose, HIV/HCV/STI prevention issues and trends; participates in additional trainings when offered* Maintains and develops referral network of PWUD support and prevention services and provides linkage to care (LTC) as needed* Works collaboratively with the Prevention Services team and statewide prevention teams to develop and support programs that are culturally competent and responsive to clients accessing services at SCHN* Participates in departmental and agency retreats and meetings.* Works days and evenings as needed, some evenings and weekends required.* Additional duties as assigned.Physical Demands and Work Conditions:Works in an office environment. May travel to offsite locations. Requires ability to lift up to 20 pounds of materials. Requires clear speaking ability and the ability to use a telephone for extended periods. Requires ability to view a computer screen (near acuity). Requires fingering agility for keyboarding and using a telephone and other office equipment.This position is funded under a one-year contract and is not guaranteed after that funding has run out. Possibilities to re-apply for continued funding, or transfer to other internal positions may be available.
