Description
Developmental Disabilities Institute, DDI, is one of the largest providers of care to children and adults with Autism, developmental disabilities and other special needs. DDI has been a part of Long Island for over 50 years serving over 1,500 children and adults with Autism, other developmental disabilities and special needs. DDI provides innovative and expansive services to our population through various educational settings, residential services, day habilitation programs and vocational services.
Salary: $20.40 - $24.48/hr
Qualifications:
+ High School diploma required, BA/BS preferred
+ One year direct care experience in the developmental disabilities field required
+ Ability to supervise others (Prior supervisory experience is preferred)
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
+ Valid NYS driver's license and approved to drive by DDI's Transportation Department
+ AMAP certification within 3 months
Responsibilities:
+ Works a varied full time schedule including weekday and weekend nights and is on call for overnight emergencies along with Overnight Manager.
+ Ensures safety of the students by assuring established security systems and safety protocols are implemented and followed by overnight staff.
+ Assists the Overnight Manager to ensure minimum supervision/gender requirements for all the residences on all overnight shifts including coordinating overnight staff's use of paid time off.
+ Works directly with students when needed.
+ Assists the Overnight Manager in supervising overnight staff in each of the residences and ensuring all assignments are completed on every overnight shift.
+ Assists the Overnight Manager and Residence Managers in completing progressive discipline and performance evaluations for all overnight staff.
+ Participates in training overnight staff on the overnight programs of all individuals, DDI policies and procedures and residence-specific guidelines.
+ Ensures all documentation for student programs, protocols and supervision requirements is completed by overnight staff for all the residences.
+ Ensures all incident reports, medical documentation and employee-related documentation are completed by overnight staff for all the residences.
+ Ensures emergency procedures are appropriately followed and documented
+ Assists the Overnight Manager in participating in monthly overnight meetings
Essential Physical Demands:
+ Must be able to modify the area to secure the safety of the children i.e. move/push tables and other heavy objects up to 20 lbs
+ Must be able to lift/move 20 lbs (mats)
+ Must be able to run after student up to 500 feet
+ Must be able to run to a classroom in need up to 500 feet
+ Must be able to kneel, twist and bend
