Compensation Range: $36.00 - $39.00 per hour (depending on experience, education, and location) How You Will Contribute: The Registered Nurse shall interact with the residents during the shift and assist staff in meeting the functional needs of the resident. The RN shall assist to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment at all times. The RN shall take physician orders, prepare and administer resident medications, assess and document resident's condition, and facilitate outside diagnostic or medical services that are ordered by the physician. Essential Responsibilities:
- Provides a comprehensive nursing assessment identifying resident needs, problems, capabilities and limitations.
- Records and transcribes physicians written and verbal orders. Carries out or delegates STAT orders immediately.
- Communicates with other clinical team members observations and recommendations for residents' plan of care; providing input into the treatment team process.
- Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and brings to the attending physician's attention.
- Documents the administration of medication (including PRN) in according to established policies and procedures.
- Coordinates all pharmacy and laboratory orders, delivery, and refills with the appropriate vendors.
- Responsible for the security of all controlled medications kept in the facility and monitors the administration and accurate recording of use.
- Administers medications according to physician orders and medication administration record.
- Able to administer several differing types of injections including Tubersol PPD reading, Long Acting Antipsychotic injectables, other Intramuscular Injections as ordered.
- Provides, structures, and maintains a therapeutic environment in collaboration with other staff.
- Documents observations in nursing assessment and weekly notes in electronic charting system, Best Notes, in accordance with facility policy in a timely manner. Documentation reflects plan of care outlined in the Master Treatment Plan.
- Documentation reflects ongoing assessment of resident behaviors and feelings as expressed, and are addressed appropriately within the program or with referral.
- Prepares residents for home pass or discharge through individualized counseling and instruction prior to discharge in a clear and concise manner; providing written instructions if needed.
- Provides education to residents and families about medications, side effects, contraindications, and physical symptoms through individual counseling and group counseling.
- Provides review of clinical records for accuracy and quality documentation.
- Assists in the coordination of admissions, transfers, and discharges to provide a smooth and efficient flow of communication.
- Coordinates facility infection control program; ensuring staff and residents meet policy and procedure requirements.
QualificationsWhat We're Seeking
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Requires state license as a Registered Nurse.
- Prefer one (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse. Prefer at least one (1) year in psychiatric nursing. Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, medications and their correct administration. Must have knowledge of human development over the life span.
- Requires valid CPR/BLS and State Driver's License.
