Position: Overnight Youth Support Specialist - Full Time & On-call available. $19.00 - 20.00/hr, additional benefits below. Position Summary: Responsible for oversight and supervision of sleeping youth(12 - 18 years old) and for responding to emergent situations. This position must remain awake and alert at all times. In this role, you are also responsible for waking and supervising residents in the morning before school.

Full Job Description

Title: Night Youth Support Specialist Department: Residential Services Title of Immediate Supervisor: Youth Support Supervisor POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for oversight and supervision of sleeping/awake youth and for responding to emergent situations. This position must remain awake and alert at all times. Also responsible for waking and supervising youth in the morning before school. Clearly and effectively communicate with team members within school and within the living suites/cottages. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 1. Remain awake and alert at all times to ensure proper supervision and control of youth we serve. 2. Expectation to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your shift to prepare for your transition of responsibilities. (RCH) 3. Preliminary check and rounds upon starting shift to orientate to current status of the living suite/cottage. 4. Perform bed checks nightly beginning at 10:30 using the Detex Clock (north) or the log (south) and continuing at least once every 30 minutes throughout the shift. Ensure youth in their bed and visually check for skin and/or awareness of breathing. 5. Utilize the youth's Individual Crisis Management Plan (ICMP) and/or personal safety plans while providing therapeutic crisis intervention to address the youth's acute emotional and/or physical acting out. i.e., use of sensory items to assist with self-regulation. 6. Report any disturbance or trespass occurring on the grounds to the supervisor on duty and/or Sheriff's Department. Maintain a continuous fire safety watch in the living suite/cottage and on campus while on duty. 7. Supervise morning routine including wake-up, breakfast, clean up and school preparation. 8. Be diligent in your observation of the youth's emotional and behavioral needs and communicate observations and pertinent information to multi-disciplinary treatment team which includes LBHP, Permanency Case manager, Youth Support Supervisor, Health Services, etc. directly and through general and individual logs, relief notes, and telephone and visitation logs daily. 9. Ensure that all required daily documentation including incident reports and input from the multidisciplinary team regarding individual youth plans are documented in the general log and/or appropriate documentation before the end of the work shift. 10. Communicate with Day Staff, school staff, and other relevant staff to exchange pertinent information concerning the youth. Include information regarding injury, illness, absence from school, medication, behavior, and any other information relevant to the care and well-being for the youth. 11. Participate in the formulation and follow-through of treatment plans to support the development of self-regulation appropriate to the youth's developmental age. 12. Dispense prescribed medication to youth as indicated and document accurately on the Medication Administration Record (MAR). 13. Performs light cleaning throughout the night with coordination of co-worker and with discretion (i.e., kitchen, bathrooms, main living area, ensures that vacuums bags are empty, cleaning supplies are on hand and in working order, wash dirty rags, remove trash and complete maintenance request as needed. 14. Inspect, tidy and secure the suite/cottage including room checks, bathroom checks, shutting off lights, and shutting and locking office doors. Ensure that outside doors are locked and secured. 15. Recognize the importance of your role in developing positive relationships to work in collaboration and partnership as part of the NDYFS team and with the youth and the families we serve as they achieve their goals. 16. Maintains Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and First Aid/CPR certification provided by the agency. 17. Attends all mandatory in-service training and regularly attends supervision meetings. Attends other training and in-services as needed to maintain a level of expertise in the field. 18. Any additional duties assigned by immediate supervisor. SKILL, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Education and/or Professional Qualifications/Skills - Degree preferred - High School Diploma/GED - Previous experience in child care preferred. Must be able to build appropriate, respectful relationships with youth, guide their development, manage home/unit/cottage effectively and participate in overall treatment plan, and be able to exercise common sense and professional judgment.
