Status: Full TimeShift: 7 on 7 off. Wednesday through Tuesday. 10 hour days.Exempt: NoSummary:Assist in planning and implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients under the supervision of physical therapist according to principles and practices of physical therapy in all areas in the hospital system including but not limited to: Acute care, Outpatient, CMR. Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment team.Other information:NoneSpecialized or Technical Education Required:Graduate of an accredited program for physical therapy assistants or certified as an assistant through grandfather legislation and/or license and registration as required for the State of Louisiana. Temporary License accepted while therapist is in licensure process.Manual or Physical Skill Required:Body mechanics and working knowledge of proper equipment used for physical therapy treatments.Physical Effort Required:Intermittent exertion in positioning, lifting, transferring patients, equipment or other materials. Provide physical therapy services. May assist in evaluation by recording data and assessing specific components of evaluation as determine by physical therapy practice act.2. Demonstrate an understanding of physical therapy evaluation, being able to pick out pertinent information to assist in reassessment of goals.3. Demonstrate an understanding of treatment goals and patient care plan developed in the initial evaluation by the physical therapist.4. Administer and assist with such physical therapy treatment under the supervision of a physical therapist.5. Demonstrate knowledge of the diagnosis, precautions, and contraindications associated with all aspects of patient care.6. Demonstrate proficiency in performance of all modalities as determined by testing.7. Coordinate with physical therapist any changes in care plan based on assessment of patient status, patient progression/regression towards achieving goals, response to treatment and changes in patient status.8. Instruct patient and family in procedures or activities based on plan of care set up by the physical therapist.9. Participate in discharge planning with the physical therapist.10. Prepare any written documentation required by the department and directed by the physical therapist.11. Communicate observations, facts, and comments with nursing and interdisciplinary team members individually, and through team meeting presentations in coordination with physical therapist.12. Supervise subordinate staff under direction of the physical therapist.13. Provide the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.14. Maintain appointment books, logs, charge records and schedules as necessary for the daily operations of the department.15. Prepare treatment areas for incoming patients, transport patients to the Rehabilitation Services Department, and prepare patients and equipment for treatments.16. Maintain and distribute appropriate supplies including linens, bandages, cleaning supplies and assistive devices.17. Maintain cleanliness of department, treatment areas and equipment.18. Perform clerical duties such as writing patient charges, answering telephones, and other related duties as directed.19. Comply with department policies, procedures, objectives, safety, environmental, infection control and quality assurance programs.20. Participate in educational programs, in-service meetings and attend other meetings that are required.21. Meet the needs of patients in the waiting area and the treatment rooms in an appropriate and safe manner.22. Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.23. Communicate at an appropriate level necessary for interaction with all hospital personnel.24. Follow North Oaks Health System's Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
