Our client in the education industry is seeking several P/T Makerspace Staff to work evening and weekend shifts at their makerspace facilities located at 6 Metrotech and 325 Gold Street.
The Makerspace Support Associate will supervise and monitor the facilities operations of the General Engineering Open Laboratory and MakerSpace managed spaces including: ensuring compliance with all applicable policies including but not limited to safety, health and space usage; assisting in the maintenance and operation of the facilities and equipment; and reporting issues to the MakerSpace Managers and General Engineering Directors. These positions report to the Managing Director, MakerSpace
DUTIES INCLUDE:
+ Supervise student workers and support operations during weeknights and weekends for the General Engineering Open Laboratory and MakerSpace managed spaces.
+ Enforce all policies regarding health, safety, and space usage in the Tandon School of Engineering. Adhere to standards as determined by OSHA, NIOSH, NYU Department of Research and Laboratory Safety and Environmental Safety and Health and the General Engineering and MakerSpace.
+ Work with the MakerSpace and General Engineering staff to identify, establish and maintain policies guiding the safe and efficient use of spaces.
+ Make recommendations for repairs and upgrades.
+ Coordinate with NYU cleaning contractors and building management as required.
+ Perform small maintenance and general housekeeping duties.
+ Enforce open hours as established by MakerSpace and General Engineering.
+ Ensure that spaces are left neat and tidy at the end of day and all doors are locked.
+ Must interact in a courteous and professional manner with Faculty, Students, Staff and Guests.
+ Coordinate with NYU Campus Security as needed.
+ Must be an excellent communicator.
+ Qualifications **Basic knowledge of 3D printing, laser cutting, and hand tool usage is required.** Must be able to demonstrate clear, appropriate, and effective communication with a diverse audience including students and members of the public. Must be able to demonstrate a professional, courteous, and helpful demeanor. Prior experience in an educational environment is helpful **. Must be available to work 15-20 hours per week within the following time frames: Mon-Fri 5:30 pm-10:30 pm, Sat-Sun, 11:00 am-6:30 pm**
