The Package & Tooling Designer utilizes solid modeling CAD/CAM software to develop innovative and effective package designs, layouts, and prototypes. Develop the tool path using CAM to produce tooling that meets specifications, production capabilities, and quality expectations plus Andex's unique multi-customer combination runs.

Job Summary:
Utilize solid modeling Solidworks CAD software to design and develop efficient 3-dimensional package designs, layouts, and prototypes. Convert the design using Autodesk HSM CAM software to machine the production tooling to meet customer specifications, production capabilities, and quality expectations. Coordinate and layout the Andex multi-customer combination runs.

ssential Duties and Requirements of the Job:
Design:
- Design 3-D packaging models (solid & surface modeling) with accurate part dimensions, radius, and curvatures.
- Coordinate with the Sales Team to review projects and identify the customers' design goals.
- Conceptualize, plan, and execute the design of thermoform packages.
- Develop insert card drawings.
Tooling:
- Generate the CAM program to efficiently and accurately produce the tooling components. Consult and coordinate with the CNC machinists to optimize production.
- Determine the timeline and sequence of operations for project, machining, fabrication, and outsourced cutting dies and/or additional components required.
- Communicate this timeline and any revisions to the Production Manager and Account Representative.
- Configure layouts for the Andex multi-customer combination runs. Determine the required mold pieces and coordinate assembly of the tooling components.
- Develop detailed prints for manual CNC programming and machining.
- Present tooling layouts for the Account Representatives.
Coordination:
- Create and maintain article drawings for customer review and production/quality records.
- Make revisions and accurately document changes within company databases.
- Place purchase orders and coordinate delivery with outside vendors for required tooling and support materials.
- Work closely with the production team and quality department to troubleshoot and improve designs and ensure optimal production results.
- Support and comply with the Andex tooling design and machining standards and the Andex Quality Management System.
- Maintain accurate, timely and constructive communication with all departments as necessary.
Other Duties, as assigned, include but not limited to:
- Continuously strive to improve quality, process, and outcomes.
- Participate in seminars, technical events, and solicit vendor technical input.
- Maintain a safe, clean workstation.
- Remain occupied with work-related activities.
- Work on temporary tasks as assigned.
Education, Training, Skills, and Experience Required to Perform the Essential Duties of the Job:
- High School diploma or GED required. Associate's degree, or completion of a related instructional program, is preferred.
- Two years of experience in a similar position.
- Demonstrated background in CAD, preferably 3D solid surface modeling, utilizing Solidworks or similar software (Pro-E, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, etc.).
- Background in 3D CAM design utilizing similar software to program CNC mills.
- Calculate geometric and basic trigonometric calculations for design.
- Create dimensional drawings utilizing mechanical drafting skills.
- Experience using measuring devices including indicators, calipers and micrometers.
- Proficient use of Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook email.
- Able to record and maintain records accurately.

- Physically able to sit for extended periods of time.

- Combination of office and manufacturing setting.
- Daily responsibilities in an office setting, with low lights, air-conditioning, and manufacturing setting with industrial noise and work occurring near moving equipment.
- Regularly handles pointed/sharp dies and hand tools.
