Job Description: Packaging EngineerThe Packaging Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing innovative packaging solutions that meet the highest standards for food safety, product quality, and sustainability. This role will focus on packaging for consumer goods within the food industry, ensuring that materials and processes align with regulatory requirements and operational efficiency goals. The Packaging Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, R&D, Quality Assurance, and Procurement, to ensure the successful execution of packaging projects.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and optimize packaging solutions that meet food safety, product quality, and sustainability standards.Ensure packaging materials and processes comply with FDA and USDA regulations.Utilize packaging design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and testing equipment for project execution.Implement sustainable packaging practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, R&D, Quality Assurance, and Procurement.Support scale-ups with new customers and streamline new processes and procedures for packaging and processing.Must HavesBachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.3-5 years of experience in packaging engineering, preferably within the CPG/food industry.Strong knowledge of packaging regulations, including FDA and USDA requirements.Proficiency in packaging design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and testing equipment.Experience with sustainable packaging practices.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to drive continuous improvement.Proficient in Microsoft Office, IQMS, and Outlook.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in food manufacturing and food safety.Knowledge of CAPE and TOPS software.
