For more information, visit www.coopervision.com.Job Summary:The Packaging Engineer will be a contributor to project teams, providing package engineering guidance and support for projects that yield continuous improvement as well as those that introduce new packaging innovations. The Packaging Engineer is responsible for managing secondary and tertiary packaging component projects from concept to implementation with accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and sustainability requirements. Packaging component design solutions and specific project deliverables consider the current needs of the business, as well as align with changing requirements and future needs of the business.Responsibilities
- Create CAD drawings, package specifications and assembly procedures, developing package prototypes and directing shipment testing and analysis of the product/package.
- Support the development of standardized packaging specifications, package testing, dieline templates and foil templates processes which are key to maintaining an efficient operation.
- Update and manage change control of packaging material specifications, component dielines and packaging item BOM's with the CooperVision regulatory compliance database.
- Deliver projects to improve package quality; reduce shipping damage; address specific regional design needs; and reduce costs in operations.
- Provide on-going support to packaging operations at the global sites, allowing for parallel implementation of projects that drive efficiencies, capacities, and quality.
- Enhances the ability of the Global Packaging Team to evaluate situations from another individual's experiences and perspectives.
- Support Senior Engineers on new product introduction and packaging strategy development and implementation.
- Other duties may be assigned.

- Demonstrated understanding of packaging materials, package testing methods, packaging related sustainability initiatives, and distribution methods.
- Understanding of packaging operations and production lines & equipment.
- Good understanding of graphics and printing processes.

Experience:
- 2-3 years' experience in a technical packaging role with a focus on packaging component development, selection, and testing.
- Proficiency in secondary and tertiary packaging component design principles and use of ArtiosCAD design software.
- Demonstrated experiences with creating and executing material and distribution test protocols.
- Experience leading packaging related projects.
- Experience with sustainability initiatives related to packaging components and systems preferred.
- Experience with medical packaging regulations and protocols a plus.
- Strong computer skills working with Microsoft Office Suite
