Overview:
Great things are happening at the T. Marzetti Top Quality Baking (TQB) and as we continue to grow the T. Marzetti Company is looking to hire team members who will grow with us on our journey towards world class operational excellence. We are looking for energized individuals that would like to work on our production floor in the packaging area for the 1st Shift (AM).
General Helper - Packaging - Starting Rate $17.22 (AM Shift 5:40am - 5:40pm); Must be able to work weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Support General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defence Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1.
- Practices integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members and visitor
- Assist Operators, Line Lead and Production Supervisor
- Rotate when asked and where needed.
- Keep product flowing evenly on the laners to grouper.
- Pack finished product in designated bag.
- Rework any product back on the lines from bulk conveyor or green bins that is in spec.
- When working at the Kwik-lock station make sure that the product is bagged and clipped and labelled properly.
- Make sure that the product is placed properly in the shipping trays, or frozen boxes.
- Stack the product trays and frozen boxes evenly if needed.
- Transport finished product to designated areas.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area (sweep and pick up trash)
- Prepare work area for upcoming product and leave area ready for next crew (black trays and bags)
- Know where emergency STOP and START/STOP buttons are located.
- When necessary, wear gloves while handling product.
- Follow all company GMP procedures

- Perform all special requests by the Production Supervisor or Line Lead
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally & written and work well with Team Members and Management
- Basic mechanical aptitude and good math skills are helpful.
- Regular Attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures.
- Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
- Complete initial/annual training to ensure the individual is properly qualified (QI) to perform all required job tasks as outlined in training programs/records.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment requiring repetitive work preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally & written and work well with Team Members and Management
- Basic mechanical aptitude and good math skills are helpful.
- Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required.
Working Conditions/Environment:
- Works in a manufacturing environment where the Team Member is regularly required to speak, read, and comprehend, stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb, and bend while working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
- Stand for up to 12 hours with regular breaks.
- May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
- The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap.
- SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) and smocks are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards. Condition of these items must be inspected by employee daily and be replaced when no longer providing the optimal protection of the Team Member.
