Packaging and Labeling Specialist - Monday through Friday, 3:30pm-midnight Cypress Valley Meat Company 1st Shift: 7am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday 2nd Shift: 3:30pm-midnight, Monday through Friday Cypress Valley Meat Company in Pottsville is a USDA inspected custom processing company. OVERVIEW & PURPOSE The Packaging and Labeling Specialist's primary role is to ensure accurate portioning/packing of all cuts, a working knowledge of all packaging machines, working knowledge of all scales/ labeling systems, checking quality of all cuts, ensuring all labeling meets customer requirements, and providing excellent customer service. Cypress Valley is looking for an independent thinker who has a proven track record of improving processes, ensuring food safety and quality, and ensuring an incredible finished product. A successful candidate has the ability to see the big picture while executing on a Cypress Valley operational level to improve overall performance. Additionally, s/he is never satisfied with the status quo. The Packaging and Labeling Specialist reports to the Plant Manager. S/he will work diligently to ensure all labeling is in accordance with customer specifications. S/he must develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, suppliers, and customers. The Packaging and Labeling Specialist will work in a team approach with the staff, management team, vendor partners, and customers to establish, maintain, measure, and revise Cypress Valley's operational systems. S/he must be a team player who is reliable and understands their dependability is important for the team's success. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all safety practices
  • Prepare daily efficiency reports and ensure efficiencies are met and/or exceeded
  • Assure that all quality standards are followed
    • Assemble boxes, prepare boxes with products, move the boxes to the freezer
    • Learn how to use the label scale and printer to prepare labels
    • Prepare and package bags with product
    • Verify product specifications
    • Packaging integrity
    • Packaging requirements set by the customer
    • Box size and case counts
  • Ensure great customer service at all times
  • Attend all staff and department meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED certificate preferred
  • One year of experience in packaging/labeling preferred
  • Knowledge and training in butchering and retail meat cutting preferred
  • Understands the necessary safety requirements when operating in a food preparation environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting
heavy loads of up to 60 pounds, etc.)
  • Good hand-eye coordination
