Accupac is hiring a full-time Packing Manager for our Lakewood, NJ location!

Job Summary:

Responsible to plan and guide all day-to-day activities within the Packaging Department assuring adherence to the Company s predetermined schedule, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP s)and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP s). Primary goal is safety, followed by Quality and assurance that packaging goals are met by monitoring and interacting with other departments, troubleshooting when necessary. The Packaging Manager will work very closely with the Manufacturing, Engineering Lab, and resource supply teams to ensure all equipment and resources needed are available to meet the predetermined production schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure the packaging department area is safe, organized, and compliant to cGMP s
  • Ensures that all housekeeping initiatives are maintained
  • Attend Daily Packaging Scheduling meetings to ensure schedule-planning integrity.
  • Updates the packaging schedule grid at least once a day.
  • Communicates personnel needs to HR and temp agencies.
  • Coordinates training sessions with the packaging teams at least once a month.
  • Communicates the packaging schedule with the packaging team members between shifts 3 and 1 and 1 and 2.
  • Meet with Supervisors daily to review packaging schedule and set priorities and recommend alternatives to increase/maintain maximum efficiencies without jeopardizing customer due dates.
  • Review packaging reports, Supervisors logs and Nonconformance Investigation Reports (NIR) daily to monitor packaging issues, efficiencies and schedule adherence.
  • Interact with other members of the Operations Team to resolve multi-departmental issues to maintain the packaging schedule.
  • Assists in resolving any documentation issues that arise during the Packaging Batch Record process.
  • Ensure adequacy of packaging performance, manning and line speeds for all initial packaging runs of new-finished goods codes.
  • Evaluates and approves revised and new packaging batch records.
  • Evaluates and approves revised and new SOP s
  • Coordinate with Engineering to improve efficiencies either through layout adjustments or recommended equipment improvements on the Packaging Floor.
  • Evaluates component problems and provide appropriate response to Quality Department.
  • Ensures that all waste generated on the Packaging Floor is within acceptable parameters. Standard is < 3%
  • Conduct routine safety audits to ensure that all departmental personnel are performing their duties in a safe manner and that the factory floor is safe all workers.
  • Participate in the interviewing and selection of departmental employees.
  • Adhere to company procedures regarding disciplinary actions and employee terminations.
  • Prepares and submits evaluations of Packaging Supervisors to the Plant Manger
  • Assures that Packaging Supervisors meet the requirements of their job descriptions.
  • Maintains Open Door Policy remaining visible and listening to employees.
  • Assists the Plant Manager with customer audits, visits and new project activities.
  • Coordinates actions to be taken on any customer returns with QA and Customer Service. Identify root cause and corrective actions of any customer return.
  • Assists the Packaging Supervisors in writing Packaging Incident Reports (PIR s).
  • Ensures all incidents or complaints with related Corrective Actions / Preventative Actions (CAPA s) are completed before their assigned due dates.
  • Audit packaging floor and personnel on a regular basis to ensure c GMP and SOP compliance.
  • Provide departmental employees with necessary motivation and guidance.
  • Provide Packaging Staff with all necessary tools, materials, and training to be able to perform their job successfully.
  • Act as a member of various committees to ensure safety, improve job performance, increase efficiencies and set goals.
  • Manage Overtime costs
  • Able to approve purchases in the plant managers absence.
  • Work closely with maintenance department to adhere to the schedule and keep line safely running.
  • Review, approve, and advise management of any concerns about new customer projects, specifications, or requirements Interact with customers during line tests, new product start-ups and routine customer line inspections.
  • Coordinate packaging with sanitizations appropriately.
  • Perform any packaging job-related activities required to ensure the production schedule is met.
  • Perform job in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements of the Job:

  • Possess leadership skills and ability to work cooperatively and effectively with co-workers
  • Possess a working knowledge of machinery and packaging processes.
  • Able to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Possess fluency in written and spoken English
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Possess ability to follow instructions and give instruction.
  • Able to work effectively in high-pressure situations
  • Possess the ability to understand Standard Operating Procedures, cGMP s and communicate their requirements to others
  • Possess experience with manufacturing inventory systems
  • Possess the ability to use mainframe and company-owned computer systems.
  • Possess a professional appearance.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business/related field or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean manufacturing experience is desirable.
