The Packaging Manager will supervise and optimize all the tasks related to the packaging of manufactured products. This person reports directly to the National Manufacturing Director. This person will assist the Manufacturing team by maintaining quality control measures in the post processing and packaging process and thereby ensuring the delivery of high-quality product. This Manager carries out day-to-day tasks including, assisting with packaging related tasks, maintain paperwork using Good Documentation, and adhering to GMP standards. The Packaging Manager will be a hands-on working with leads and associates and is responsible for post processing and packaging team training.
Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises the Post Processing and Packaging staff and accomplishes department results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- This position and all output metrics report directly to the National Manufacturing Director. These reports will include all daily production metrics, establishing actual vs. expected production results with explanations of variances, staff absences and all associated production paperwork.
- Shows the capability to effectively communicate with management and co-workers on a professional basis. This will include all team leads, supervisors, and upper management.
- Preparing for efficient production by reviewing packaging schedule; studying and clarifying specifications; calculating requirements; assembling and weighing manufactured items.
- Performing all training required for post processing and packaging teams, including maintaining all required documentation.
- Cleaning and maintaining packaging equipment and laboratory facility following current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), and standard operating procedures; complying with legal regulations; monitoring environment.
- Operating, maintaining, adjusting, trouble shooting, and repairing packaging equipment such as labelers, filling machines, ovens, hot plates, freezers, scales, and any other automated packaging equipment we may use.
- Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, equipment PMs as required, and preparing requisitions as needed, maintaining inventory within state-issued cannabis inventory software.
- Storing supplies and equipment, disposing of waste according to state guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms and working areas immaculate.
- Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, record keeping, and filing.
- Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products.
- Performing related duties as assigned
- Experience in the medical cannabis industry not required, but a plus

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in operations, manufacturing, or equivalent area of study preferred.
- Equivalent combination of work/education experience accepted
- 3+ years' experience in management, leadership, manufacturing and production
- Knowledge of inventory control, production operations, packaging operations, order management, performance metrics, costs, and other techniques.
- Possess sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, initiative, and attention to detail
