JOB SUMMARY

The Packaging Mechanic will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of high-speed packaging equipment in a very fast-paced manufacturing environment.

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Rochester, NY

DEPARTMENT: Packaging Maintenance

SCHEDULE: Must be able to work off-shifts (afternoons/overnights); weekends and OT as needed

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on production machines.

* Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.

* Troubleshoot malfunctions through understanding of power transmission systems, fluid mechanics (hydraulics and pneumatics), and other machine components and systems.

* Locate root cause of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and using precision measuring and testing instruments.

* Assist with change-overs and prepare machinery for scheduled production runs.

* Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.

* Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production. Diagnose and prioritize problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust as required to return machinery to service.

* Understand production systems and machinery thoroughly to identify and correct to avoid unnecessary or repeated downtime. Anticipate wear and/or downtime through routine observation and operator feedback.

* Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track completed work orders and schedule future work.

* Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), properly wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and follow all safety and company policies at all times.

* Perform other various job duties as needed.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

* High school diploma or equivalent.

* 2+ years of experience troubleshooting and/or repairing manufacturing equipment is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

* Must be able to frequently climb stairs, duck over and climb over conveyors/machines, and walk significant distances throughout the brewery.

* Must be able to push, pull, crawl, and bend.

* Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. and use hand tools/machinery as needed.

* Must be able to do overhead work in limited circumstances/confined spaces.

* Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, including fluctuating temperatures.

Pay Rate: $31.55 - 35.05/hour

The referenced pay range represents step pay rates for this job, as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Individual pay will be set in accordance with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
