Key Responsibilities: Tropicana Brands Group is looking for a highly qualified Packaging Operator & Mechanic to support the Supply Chain team to ensure the company's goals and initiatives are met. This role will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining all packaging equipment to meet production schedules & to ensure quality standards are met. Tropicana is looking for a critical thinker with exceptional communication, influencing and relationship management skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Additional Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and maintain all packaging equipment to meet production schedules
- Ensure quality standards are met
- Perform quality checks to ensure proper packaging, coding, products and other materials are correctly used in the production run
- Perform equipment Center-lining & clean, Inspect and Lubricate (CIL) to ensure that all equipment is running at peak performance and to quality standards
- Perform and track rapid changeover to ensure that the next product is started on time and is correct
- Initiative is proactive, does more than required, volunteers to help others
- Effectively troubleshoot complete system, including equipment and components
- Perform total production manufacturing (TPM) to include: AM, PM, FI, OCCI, EM and HSE pillar teams as required
- Maintain all areas to 5 S standards
- Must be able to track and maintain material counts and troubleshoot variances
- Must be able to use predictive maintenance tools to implement and exercise needed improvements
- Be able to lead the Why-Why & 7-step process meetings to eliminate losses or waste, to include safety issues
- When equipment problems occur, it is the responsibility of each employee to assist in getting the problem corrected quickly and on time (flow to the work) – above and beyond without having to be asked
- Must be willing to work off of your regular shift to provide technical support and training for the team
- Job will require overtime, which could include more than 40 hours per week, 7 days a week and up to 12 hour days
- Will be required to learn and use multi computer skills which are paramount to the team's success
- Must be able to develop detailed training, SOPs, and certifications, revise training manuals and determine training requirements
- Must be willing to help the area Planner Scheduler deliver and document maintenance work correctly & on time
- Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by supervisory, management and union representatives
Requirements:
- High school Diploma or GED
- 2 years of maintenance mechanic experience in conveyors, bearings, gear boxes, drive systems etc.
- 3 years in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to work 3rd shift
- Must have good mechanical skills & knowledge of mechanical tools
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
- Ability to operate complex machinery in the achievement of production goals
- Ability to execute and manage a production plan
- Ability to troubleshoot problems, determine cause and resolve problem with limited assistance
- Ability to understand and comply with quality assurance standards
- Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and make immediate corrective action
- Must be able to work independently and with limited supervision
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
- Must be able to work with computer software such as SAP, Outlook, Word, Excel, Zarpac and ADC
- Must be proficient and able to train others in classroom and hands on type training (Certify)
- Must be able to twist, reach, bend, lift a minimum of 30 pounds, push 30 pounds, pull 30 pounds and climb as needed
- Must be able to demonstrate teamwork, share information freely, cooperate with others, listen and encourage others and ask for input from others and acknowledge others skills, experience and contributions
- Must be willing to continuously improve the team's ability to meet customer's requirements at the lowest cost
