Job Description:

Starting hourly wage $24.72 per hour. Regular hours are M-F 7a-3p with some extended daily hours and weekend work possible. OR 12 hour shifts 7a-ppm 4-on/4-off including weekends. Hours worked from 5pm - 6am Monday – Friday will receive a 15% shift premium. All hours worked on Saturday and Sunday will receive a 15% shift premium. Job Summary: Responsible for maintenance on poly and carton machinery and palletizers in Packaging Department, auto-baggers and sewing machines in Bag Sewing and for troubleshooting electric and electronic issues for both packaging equipment and bag sewing equipment. Educational Requirements: Must be able to read equipment manuals and work requests, write or print legibly, add, subtract, multiply and divide 3-digit numbers, work with both decimals and fractions and calculate ratios. Previous Experience: 1 - 2 years of general maintenance experience or documented vocational training required. Should be able to perform all duties of both the Level 6 Packaging Technician I and the Level 7 Packaging Technician II positions. Special Training: A working knowledge of the operation of all packing and bag sewing equipment as well as the electronic purchasing and inventory control systems and data bases. Supervision Required: Works under general supervision of crew foreman, shift supervisor or department manager. Skills Required: Must be able to follow written or verbal instructions, have good communication skills, working knowledge of packaging equipment and the ability to think and work through machinery problems. Must have a basic understanding of electricity, be able to wear safety equipment when necessary, work in close spaces, in dusty environments, at heights of 30 feet or more (indoors or outdoors) exposed to the weather, able to climb (stairs and ladders), move heavy weights up to 100 lbs. and operate industrial vehicles. Previous Experience: 1 - 2 years of general maintenance experience or documented vocational training required. Should be able to perform all duties of the Level 5 General Maintenance position in Packing. Special Training: A working knowledge of operation of carton and poly machines, case and bale packers and palletizers. Specific Job Responsibilities: All duties of Packaging Technician I and Packaging Technician II. Make needed repairs to any and all production and conveying equipment in either the Packaging or Bag Sewing departments. Work closely with service technicians, equipment installers and contractors in a professional manner. Order parts and monitor/control the inventory of parts and tools. Supervise the maintenance group in the absence of the Crew Foreman, making job assignments and following up on job status. Provide guidance and instruction to Packaging Technician I and II personnel, as needed. Report all equipment problems to supervisor or department manager. Be able to be contacted for “on-call” work to assist when needed after hours and on the weekends. Follow all safety rules, GMP's and HARPC procedures when performing maintenance tasks. All other jobs as assigned by supervisor. RICELAND Education Requirements One year certificate from college or technical school; or High School Diploma or GED.
