Position Purpose Coordinate the flow of quality product from the paint line. Maintain safety, efficiency and due dates with uninterrupted line stoppage. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Keep area clean and orderly to facilitate production and minimize safety hazards; regroup parts to maximize available storage space.
- Follow instruction procedures per company-controlled documents.
- Ensure proper quantities of product as directed by company approved shop order and ensure product is labeled following company specific guidelines.
- Tracking parts and completed orders per company guidelines and procedures and maintain accurate record keeping of all work completed.
- Perform document control procedures as required by the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesSkills and Abilities - Must be reliable, cooperative, and a self-starter. Must be able to read and interpret inventory cards, order numbers, etc. Must be able to write neatly and legibly. Organize tasks and make decisions quickly. Basic skills are needed to figure weight discrepancies, measure and weigh steel and calculate steel by piece counts. Ability upon training to visually inspect the quality of finished product for paint deficiencies. Problem Solving or Decision Making - The incumbent must set priorities for efficient workflow and determine proper procedures to follow for the particular job to be performed. Determines priorities in the transportation and receiving of materials within the department to facilitate plant operations. Gives careful attention to established safety priorities and exercised proper preventative maintenance of equipment. Errors in judgment may not be detected until they have caused noticeable costs in time and money. Supervision Received - Supervision Received The incumbent receives general supervision, only exceptional problems are referred to the supervisor. Assignments are usually specific and the incumbent selects form a variety of established procedures to complete tasks. Qualifications / Prior ExperienceTraining and Experience - Previous work in area would be helpful to provide knowledge of work flow. Relations with Others - Position interacts with individuals from various areas of plant and must adopt a team attitude to achieve department as well as company goals. May participate in small group activities such as task teams, safety meetings, or other improvement efforts. Learning Period - Four to six months are required to learn the basics of this job. To perform all aspects of the job with minimal supervision would take six months. Certification within 30 days is preferred. Work Environment / Other RequirementsEquipment Operated - Hand trucks, hoists and chains, conveyors, feeder, scale, hand tools such as wrenches and nibblers, calculator, computer, micrometer and calipers. Moderate care required to prevent damage to equipment and facilities. Physical Effort Required - Occasional lifting of 40 pounds and pushing/pulling of 100 pounds or more. A variety of standing, walking, bending, stooping, and pulling. Requires close visual attention. Working Conditions and Hazards - General working conditions are good, occasional temperature fluctuations resulting from seasonal changes. Exposure to occasional hazards of hand truck operation. Uniform safety practices consist of safety glasses, safety shoes, and other devices as required.
