Title: Paint Mix Operator Pay: $19.00/hr Hours: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM, Sunday-Thursday Location: Chattanooga, TN 37416 Overview The Paint Mix Operator will operate and maintain equipment used in the preparation and production of paint mixtures. This role requires adherence to safety and operational guidelines, performing quality checks, and using computer-controlled systems to manage processes. The ideal candidate will have experience with Microsoft Suite and the ability to train others. Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently operate equipment, including pumps, scales, hoists, transporters, pH meters, and more.
- Perform in-process quality tests (e.g., dirt checks, wet color, viscosity, and pH).
- Follow established process instructions and adjust materials per lab specifications.
- Wash and clean equipment (e.g., tanks, pumps, piping, and chutes).
- Load and handle materials, including bag stock, kegs, drums, and tanks up to 4,500 gallons.
- Filter products using FSI filters and traps.
- Fill and label containers (drums, totes, pails) per process, customer, and DOT requirements.
- Perform housekeeping tasks and participate in area cleanup.
- Conduct audits (e.g., safety showers, eye washes, equipment).
- Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives, such as At Line testing and visual display board updates.
- Operate computer-controlled equipment and use SAP and Front-End Loading (FEL) systems.
- Train other operators as required.
Required Skills Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, and manuals.
- Write routine reports and effectively communicate with team members.
Mathematical Skills:
- Proficient in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Capable of computing rates, ratios, and percentages and interpreting bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
- Apply common sense to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Completion of training process.
- Transporter license required.
- Hi-lo license required for filling operations.
- Respirator fit test required.
Special Notes:
- Microsoft Suite experience is prioritized over forklift experience.
- Operators must comply with all site and area guidelines, including safety and operating procedures.
